The close ratio type E is the rare Rocket Gear set and is really intended for competition as a too tall diff ratio would be difficult to pull from standstill and around town but if the engine is kept spinning with high revs the close ratio's are great so i'm told. I guess £125 was good money considering you could buy a whole Escort for £5-600 LOL!

Bit of a thread jack - apologies . . . . but it is Fezza mk1 related! New series of Wheeler Dealers started with a Fezza mk1 resto - real rot box and they actually showed the guy who did the work LOL. My RS uses a T9 with a RS bell - no bumping of body panels required. I don't believe the RS shells are any different in this area to 'normal' shells. I understand that if a T9 with an integral bell ie. cast iron one will require some massage or a auto tunnel. As 'real' RS bells are getting expensive, the aftermarket ones are a good replacement!

Same as any xflow - 0.060" is safe, 0.090" is generally accepted maximum although could scrap block getting there! Large capacity differences determined by stroke.

I thought Ford had said, when enquiries were made from enthusiasts in the UK, that records had been binned many years ago? How is it now they've been found and in particular for vehicles built in plants the other side of the planet. SA records have been difficult to source with cars imported so all very peculiar to my mind! Its welcome if ALL the records are to become available.

I used Green LEDs for my dash and clock illumination - nice green glow is easy on the eyes, mainly as the RS models came with a blue translucent shroud over the incandescent bulbs (yellow + blue = green). The LEDs give a better quantity of light but not so bright to be a distraction IMO. Don't forget the Ign. / Alternator light cannot be a LED - it will not work, must be a std. incandescent type. Everything else if the warning lens is coloured I used a bright white or a colour LED as the lens colour ie green with green, Blue with blue.

If you do use LED's then i'd be inclined (for simplicity) to use the clock power for the illumination - yes it'd be 'on' all the time but power draw should be no greater than the clock or a radio 'stay alive memory' circuit. Don't try this with normal incandescent bulbs - easy way to flat battery!
