  1. you need to contact the Mk1 cortina owners club as they have a pretty full list of who owns which cortina (cortina register) it used to be a chap called Marcel that kept the list up to date but not sure now Pete....

  4. Valve refacing machine, good working order with 2 new drive belts, original fluid pot missing off the back so i made my own, does the job. this is very heavy at around 50 - 70 kgs i would think, could possibly deliver? otherwise collection from Newark. £285 Pete......07734 802699
  5. it seems to be the concensous world wide that the ethanol in fuel eats away at brass, aluminium and all rubber parts in the fuel system,

Need 2 outer (left & right) metal door trims, the long metal trim / seams that clip on round the window apertures for 2 door Pop with 1/4 lights, although I think they are the same with or without opening 1/4 lights? also some new or very good axle bump stops, 2 3/4" hole centres. Pete here in Grantham (east midlands) I have my own car transporter which is available most of the time for anyone who needs help moving there Oldskoolford, be it to the painters, body shop etc or you have bought a new project and need it collecting, as long as it rolls and is accessable I should be able to shift it. I dont do this for a living anymore ( i did in the 80's ) but offering this service to people who need help moving their car by someone who has a passion for classics, distance is not usually a problem with enough notice.   11. yes they can go down, they are just a giant contact switch, so over time the internal contacts get burnt and pitted, I've had some get me by success in the past as with some solenoids they have a small hole in one side which i have sprayed contact cleaner into, which has got the bugger working again for quite a while, but best bet as they aint dear is to replace it if yr not sure, Pete....

  13. do you know what model, year they came from?, i would check to see if the carbs originally sit at an angle, most bike carbs sit horizontal with angled inlet manifold rubbers, if you look at manifold rubbers for r6 on ebay they all are angled, so even if yr float height is correct you may be still wrong if the carbs are angled Pete....
  14. soda creates a huge amount of fine dust so i would reccomend outside only, after 5 mins in garage you wont be able to see what yr doing Pete....

  18. My cortina is around 5000 at 70mph so think yrself lucky lol, as said 185 x60 would be better, jack the car up at back and mark the prop flange at the diff, then turn one of the wheels and count the turns on the wheel for the prop revolution and you will have yr diff ratio Pete.....
  19. it was a long time ago but i am sure in the late 70's i managed to split the headlamp lens from the bowl on Mk1 headlights, I think i used a heat gun and some sharp instruments as i wanted to repair the rusty inner bowl, what i'm thinking is with one of your old headlights see if you can split it open?, if so then do the same with the same new one and swop yr lens to the new bowl, use silicon sealant or epoxy resin to glue them back together then you have nice shiny bowls on yr l/h drive Pete.....

  21. Can anyone help with ideas for parts for my Black & Decker Valvemaster FE model, I'm looking for 2 flat drive belts and a fluid (suds) pump or any other usefull spares that might be going?, even parts list and operators service manual. Cheers....Pete....
