  1. Thanks for the suggestion, the bayonet fixing gave me a clue as to what I required so did a search and Amazon came up with these, so I took a punt on them for £8.99 and they fitted perfectly:
  2. Morning all, I’m looking for another one of these wiper arm connectors, just had one disintegrate on me. Miniliteman kindly posted one the last time I had this issue but now looking for another. My other option is to replace the arms (mine are straight at the end) with the hooked type but these seem to be expensive at around £90 for a reproduction pair! Annoying that I can’t drive the car due to a small piece of broken plastic! Thanks in advance.
  3. A little bit too futuristic for us down here in Cornwall 😁
  4. I replaced mine, pretty sure that I got the new hose from Halfords.
  5. Can anyone give me an idea of how to clean the outside of my washer bottle or is it a case of buying one in new or better condition?
  6. Thanks for the replies, I decided that it would be safer and easier to purchase a new one as there were a few options out there, the yellow fan is slightly smaller than the broken item but it sits nicely in position with the shroud fitted.
  7. Does anyone have a cooling fan for a 1.6 x/flow going spare, clumsy fool here managed to drop a torch whilst the engine was running snapping off one of the blades, tried superglue as a fix but didn’t work and not sure if I can do anything to carry on using it. Thanks in advance.
  8. I have too many scrapyard adventure stories to tell but not the time although one still gives me a constant reminder, I was climbing a stack of cars that were in rows 4 high using the old fashioned style door handles for footings, it was raining and my shoes were caked in the obligatory water/soil/oil mixture, I got to the top car gripping the door handle with my right hand when both feet slipped leaving me hanging by my right arm, I actually heard my shoulder pop out and had to lower myself down carefully left handed until I reached terra firma, a quick roll of arm saw the shoulder ‘clunk’ back in but it has been an aching nuisance ever since! Yes, items finding their way out of the scrapyard mysteriously without payment was a given! I’d had a run in with the bloke that ran the establishment, so was pretty cheeses off but my revenge was to source an identical front light for my Mk1 Mexico that was cracked from a DAF Daffodil 55, fitted down the front of my strides and a bit of breathing in saw me walk out and take my revenge! Happy days 😁
  9. It would have depended on how many pints the assembly workers would have consumed on a Friday lunchtime 😁
  10. “King of pain”
  11. Pretty sure that it’s a song by The Police but can’t remember the title off the top of my head!
  12. I owned from 2004 to 2010, had to sell due to personal circumstances unfortunately, it was one of the last Mk1 Mexico’s built, it was ‘P’ reg having been built in December 1974 and registered in September 1975.
  13. Why does the front sit so high, looks like the engine has been removed?
  14. The car that had the carbs 👍
  15. A couple of photos:
  16. Sorry but the carbs and manifold were already fitted to the car when I purchased it, would really like to own it again but vey unlikely!
  17. Unfortunately mine is playing up at the moment, can't get it to fire up, it was running and then just stopped as if the ignition had been turned off, I'm confused by the wiring around the coil, it has a condenser attached to the coil mounting bracket that is wired in to the negative side of the coil which runs to the distributer so not sure if the set up is to factory standard or modified. I will attempt to get it running (might be a carb issue) and then take some readings.
  18. Had a Mk1 Mexico a few years ago with Twin 40's, the tower was lowered to fit them:
  19. My mates dad owned an orange 2.5PI back in the 70’s, you could fit 6 kids in the back before the seat belt law spoiled the fun 😁
  20. Nice photos, I went to a show recently here in Cornwall, traction engines and tractors galore, took too many photos to upload! Really like the Suzuki 2 strokes, had a GT125 with very loud expansion chambers fitted much to the annoyance of my neighbours 😁
  21. I was recently chatting to a chap who owns the orange with black decals Mk1 RS2000 at a local show, the restoration was carried out by them to an excellent standard.
  22. It was a Woolworth’s special!
  23. My first board was a wooden thing with black roller skate wheels, how we enjoyed injuring ourselves and laughing at each other with blood pouring from our knees and elbows, the belly buster or coffin position was our favourite 😁
  24. If like me you grew up in the 70’s and were hooked on the latest craze of skateboarding, here is my Marco Polo Major, purchased for me by my gran for £25 in 1978, my dad was fuming at the money spent but I was a very happy 13 year old. Clock the length, 2ft, very short in comparison to the modern day boards!
