  1. Yep i agree totally. I ordered some for my cortina when i fitted MK1 escort single leafs ,they dropped on the dormat within a couple of days. Same thing again with my mk1 rs ,i bought some 2.8i capri springs a couple of weeks ago, cleaned them all up and smoothrighted them, ordered the the bushes wednesday last week ,arrived within two days and thats with last weeks postal strike on thursday too. Also the quality is top notch, they fit well and make one hell of a difference to the handleing. Also the guy at superflex is the main man when it comes to information on what fits what and whats needed to do the job,as i found out when i had mk1 essey singles which have a different rear bush to the 2.8i . I'd go direct to him. Tim
  2. Hi i had a txxt of a day to be honest. Didn't see a single thing. And i know it was a great event and a top show. All was goin great first thing in the morning sunday. Left wittlebury camp site to meet up with a few of my nephews mate off another stand. Just cruising along and suddenly there was a horrible tappin noise from my engine. Pulls over ,couldnt see anything obviouse, pulls the leads off and found nothing firing on number 3 and 4 cylinders. Gets to where we where meeting up with the other lads, strips off the rocker cover to see if any of the ball studs on the pinto had come loose or tightened up,nothing found.Checked the timing, that was spot on . Decided to head to silverstone and gets there on two cylinders.Said hi to Darren and duly parks up on the stand. Had another go at sussing out what was wrong and again i couldn't see what the problem was. A great thank you to all the lads who gave me a bit of help and support in what turned out to be pritty terminal. Spent ages trying to find a set of spark plugs for a pinto, only found some by chance, tries them...nothing. Gets a set of heavy duty leads...nothing. Dissy cap was new. Went back out looking for a compresion tester and i soon found out what the problem was,no compresion on numbers 3 and 4 ,not a jot! number 1 and 2 where spot on. Soon after it was time to get going so i decided to head towards a service station not too far away. Gets there and rang the AA to tell them i will need recovering cus my cars about to blow up. We will be out within an hour they said. Cutting a very long story short and an overnight stay in a travel lodge,3 changes of recovery trucks later me and my son chris finally made it home late last night well over 30 hours after we rang them on sunday at 4 0clock. Got the cylinder head off tonight, firstly the idiot who built it looks to have not even bothered torqing the head down ,the spark plugs where tighter!! AND I also i think he's used a standard 2.0 gaskit ,its had a rebore to 2.1 and i think it should of had a bigger gaskit on it. It's blown to bits in between 3 and 4 cylinders. Im going to check all the details tomorrow.Ive got the piston size wrote down. I am sorry i never got to chat with you all but will do next time, and i'll look for some more posts of what i am sure was a top day, sadly not for me. Take care,Tim Oh i was in the modena green mk1 rs OUT 11OM,need to get a new pic up of it,haha Hoping to get to this one again
  3. Thank's Jeff. Hi John i have a few others too of your mex but haven't had a chance to load them to my pc as yet. Defo see you at ford fair ,looking forward to it. Cars a little lower now with the 175 60s on but needs to be a little more lower at the back. Take care Tim
  4. It's got to be x flow for me. I did it to my mk1 tina, hence a little easier to get tuned bits for and it was well worth it. All depends on what car the xflow motor comes out of too,mk2 cortina has a front bowl sump mk1 / 2 escort has a rear bowl sump. Also there are a few different blocks to chose from, 68 1f is the older type x flow and a 711m is the later type and this later one is genarally chosen if you want to modify it heavilly. Thing you need to consider is basically the bottom end of the cross flow engine is the same as a pre x flow .I say basically ,there are other slight differences. But there are differences in what types of clutches where fitted. Engine will Bolt to the anglia gearbox no problem. Your anglia will need a front bowl mounted sump and oil pick up pipe and a front timing casing with the dipstick hole in. Then you will need to block off the old rear dipstick hole. As a bit of luck your pre crossflow one off the anglia should do.(i think) The top end you will need to sort an exhaust manifold out to mate up with the existing silicer. Try askin Neil at 105 speed,he helped me emmensly when i fitted the tuned 1700 x flow to my mk1 tina, but i needed a lot off uprated parts (clutch )etc for mine which you will not need if you are keeping it standard..ish Hope this helps, Tim
  5. A mate of mine was on holiday down where there has been flooding. He was in his 4x4 and the next thing he and his wife and kids where swept down the road as a nearby river had just burst its banks, there all ok ,just a little shellshocked . He's had to hire a car and come home because his cars a write off. I hope everyone who has to go through all that is ok ,not just osf members ,everyone else too. Nature is a truely awesome thing. And nothing can stop it. Real shame. Tim
  6. Yep this is where we will be staying, hope to see you there buddie. Tim
  7. Bloomin bummer what a bargain too. I suspect one won't be found for a long while at that price regardless of it's condition. Worth well more in spares alone, thats if there was anything left on it. Better luck in the future feller. Tim
  8. I'll be there too. Tim
  9. I knew some one would say it haha and i knew it would be you matey. And it reads OUT HOM to correct you. My missus pisses her self laughin when i told her what the reg could be interpritated as. What to buy the plates Davy?? No i'm joking, yes it will look sweet next to yer pops mk2 mate i agree,i'll have to get over and see you all soon again. Them plates are getting changed to proper 11 's and not II if you see what i mean ...haha Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Hopefully you will be able to have a butchers at the ford fair stand. Ordered me 175 60 13's this morning, they will look well better than the tyres what are on it at the moment and will fit the 5 1/2 j's better i think. Plus i've got a pair of single leaves ligned to go on it when i get a chance, hopefully this will drop the arce end down a little. Tim
  10. Hi All. This may take a while or a couple of goes to read. Since i sold my lotus replica i've been looking at getting a genuine Lotus for some time before hand . I have been let down twice on two needing work. One bloke wasn't even in when we got there!! Then i started looking at mk1 mexicos and mk1 rs 2000s, Rs2000 are rarer and more expensive. I had two mexicos to look at a couple of weeks ago , one yellow, one blue, they where down Basildon,Essex, One was a yellow one and was suppossed to be rearly nice with an original britax (webasto) type roof, looked good on the pics and i spoke to the seller a few times during the week. And i said i'd ring him the day i was due down that way.As there was another one in the area to view. Heres a link to it. http://www.carandclassic.com/car/C20470 The blue mexico was nearer so our plan was to view the yellow one first then see the blue one on our way home. I spoke to the geezer about the blue one a few time too during the week too,it sounded very, very good. Here's the link to it as it's on ebay this one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1 So me and my nephew Jeff decided to go thursday and look at these two mexico's I text the lad with the blue one saying i'd be down that day and i'm goin to view the yellow one first,he rang me back striaght away saying i could see the car after 4 oclock, so that was good. I rang the garage with the yellow one and there was no answer,it didn't open till ten,so i left a message, The guy rang me back and asked when was i going to see it ? I said today And he said ,well you'll have to be hear for 1 oclock as i have to go to a buisness meeting at 2 and he wouldn't be there after 2 oclock!! ARRRRH So we was panicking then. Gets on to the m25 and there was a accident, and it took us flippin ages getting through. So i had to ring the guy with the yellow one and say that we couldn't make it for 2. He was not going to be going back the garage after this meeting,he was going elsewhere,so we had to forget about that yellow one as it was way too late. So we dicided just to go and sit off round the corner for the blue one. We were in Basildon town center and i had a parcel i had to post .So we went to the post office and posted these two go karts i'd sold on ebay the day before. When we got outside our Jef said why don't you buy the retro ford mag while your here? cus we had allready got the classic ford one from asda the night before. There was nothin in the classic ford but there was a car in the retro ford mag we'd just bought!! So i said i'm ringin the number. I rang him and he said he still had it it !! AND I was the first to ring ( the mag had only just come out). And he had been waiting for two months for it to go in the mag. He said it was nearly mint and has had all the mechanicles rebuilt and tuned and everything. Original floor etc. I said where are you? And you not going to believe this....trust me! He said 5 miniutes from basildon! town center !! What a fxxkin result or what? I told him i was in basildon town center because i'm killing a bit of time till i look at a mexico and he said your one lucky boy then! Go and see the mexico then come here to see my Rs I said defonatly mate, i'll ring you after i'd seen the mexico. We went for something to eat , then the guy rang me with the mexico to say he was home,so we headed over to see it. It was a loverly looking car, painted alll underneath and that ,under the bonnet was superb,it had had floorpans and it had had a few welding jobs underneath but the chassis was solid. The only thing what put me off was that the lower half of the body was shultzd with stone chip and then painted blue. I hate that stuff. And it was on a tad heavy for my liking. Engine bay was mint ,nice x flow motor with 40's ,nice suspension nice rs alloys all cleaned and painted etc. But it was not for me. I told the feller the shultz has put me off.And a couple of the welding jobs. I said goodbye and i then rang the guy with the RS. Met up with him and went to view his car,it was stored in a huge barn with all kinds in there monster trucks and everything. He peeled the car cover off and ............... Fxxk me! you should see this car ,its a beautie. It is gourgess. 2 liter pinto.Thats the cortina mk3 4 5 type. It's had two rear wheel arches proffesionally fitted . Inner wings and the boot floor are mint. Because it's had the rear arches done there is no side stripes on it but these are easy to get hold of,but a tad difficult to fit, It's had a full retrim and the interia is superb, being the rs it's got all the wood ,glovebox dash and that ,mexicos don't have the wood . He was asking 9 k for it and i said i'd give you 8.5k he wouldnt budge as he kept saying the mags only just come out this care is worth 12 or 13 k easy on ebay! I haggled a bit more and he said he'd knock 3 ton off and thats it. I said 8.5 and he said .....no way.!! So i got the hump and said i'd think about it. So he said have a think about it because he thought i would change my mind in a day or so. So we left. And never even took a picture of it. Second we left i was thinking what the fxxk have i done? Our jeff said i was an idiot for not getting it. So i decided to ring the guy and say i'd have it,his phone was turned off, what a twat!!. I tried ringing him nearly all the way home ..no answer. So i text him saying i wanted the car and i'll send him a deposit the next day and bring the cash the next weekend .And i'd ring him in the morning. Never slept all night and rang him at half 8 in the morning( he he) ,he answered sayin he'd got me text ,oh and me 42 missed calls and the car was mine and he'd put 12 months mot on it,its only done 800 miles since the last one. Oh and he told me it's a 2.1 and is got a had a high lift cam fitted and a ported and polished head and has been set up and tuned on a rolling rd..so fookin bonus. And it's all done less than 3 thousand miles . It's Modena Green, looks to have had a bit of paint here and there but all done to a very, very good standard. Engine, gear box, suspension, axle all look mint and work superb .Trim has been redone too. Mint restored 5 1/2 J ronals, with new 175 70's on the front and 185/70's on the rear.Mint center caps too. Went back and picked it up and got it back home with out a hitch. It drives like a brand new car. We met a couple of lads from Scotland on the way back home and we stopped off and had a chat with them about the MK2 Mexico they had just bought from someone in Devon. Gets it home and had a realy good buthers at it and this is one cleanj car for the money ,speedo cable was shot (which i've replaced )It was ruited wrong and had all melted on the Janspeed manifold. And it needs a new front grill, and for some reason there is no center consell, but the holes are there in the carpet where it screws on,hard to replace i know.( I suspect these may of been swiped before i got there) It got brand new multi leaf rear springs on it AND two inch lowering blocks and it's still as high as a kite at the back!!, combined with the 70 series tyres it looks like a dragster. I'm thinking of fitting 175 /60 /13 all round and fitting a set of capri 2.8 i rear leafs to get it closer the the ground at the back a little Any way heres some pics ,hope you all like it and we can have a chat at ford fair on the stand. The reg can be seen as something i'd rather not mention, lets just say im getting new ones where the two 1's don't give the impresion of being a "H", WORK IT OUT haha Tim

  17. I'm glad to say James Mays arl feller was the one who had taste. Which has obviously rubbed off on his son. I bet you in the 60's owning such a cracker as a mk1 tina would of been one hell of a cool experience. They look fantastic now and they did back then. I mean sit a mk1 cortina next to a morris oxford. And compare. I don't think so. Not in the same league. I miss mine now, badly. It was such a coool lookin car. Tim
  18. He cirtainly wasn't holding back there. Just like when he first won with it. What a great guy he was.Rallying in his viens through and through. Bet you the lad who rebuilt it was shittin a brick though even though the "Master" was at the wheel. Tim
