  1. 4 spoke 7x13 revos would be my choice.
  2. Thanks for the good ideas I like the look of that Frost product, but it sounds like it is just caustic soda, so as I have a sackful of that at work I may try a solution of that. I also like the idea of putting the solution in the tank and then doing the cement mixer trick, I have one of those too . If anyone can think of a reason not to use caustic soda then please let me know. Obviously I would have to rinse it out after with water and then dry it out before rinsing with a little petrol.
  3. Cheers guys , anyone else with experience of this feel free to chip in.
  4. I have just made a couple of brazed repairs to a petrol tank that has been empty for some time. Looking inside it looks quite clean but if I put my hand inside and wipe my finger around I pick up alot of black greay residue. Any ideas on how to remove it? Pressure wash, paraffin, petrol or perhaps some kind of detergent?.
  5. Are you sure he didn`t mean that you are losing compression rather than the comp ratio being low? Just a thought.
  6. I am But not in my capri I had booked a space as I thought it would easily be finished by now............maybe next year.
  7. Any recommendations? I need a small repair doing and some new foam in my JPS seats.
  8. 17 kg with disc and hub but no caliper, that is each leg.
  9. I have a spare sunroof drain tube if you need one, I also have a section of inner wing top but it would start just where those rippples are behind the headlamp bowl and go back as far as you need from there. So it would still need a patch overthe headlamp bowl.
  10. Sorry I didn`t realise you didn`t have a standard brake set up. I would bin the ford pressure reducing valve and plumb in an adjustable one as you were saying at the start.
  11. Beevers panels only list the mk3 wings. Express panels do them but they are dear, also fibreglass ones are available.
  12. About 18 months and counting , probably be just over 2 years by the time I get it MOT`d
  13. Just had a look in the haynes manual and vibrating cake is right, that is how the capri one works, just by limiting the max pressure to the rears. Apparently fitted where you said on all models after 78.
  14. I don`t know if they are serviceable, might be worth checking that it is sitting correctly as I think they need to sit level and straight ahead?
  15. I can`t remeber where, I haven`t got one on mine.
  16. Most Later V6 Capris have one fitted as standard, perhaps you could find one of those. Not a true bias valve but it reacts to heavy braking by reducing rear brake pressure I think.
  17. They are different but they are probably easy enough to replicate. They are quite substantial so I am surprised they have broken. Atleast that front spoiler is okay, that would be harder to replace.
  18. I think capri ones are different to Escort, also I think the standard capri one may be 3.3:1 anyway. Less than £30 at burtons on exchange.
  19. Yes good luck Chris, I hope it all pans out okay, family 1st
  20. Thanks for all the input. Looks like it might be worth going the dip / brush on route with the acid (vinegar) prior to painting. I have already bought the wrap so I might as well put it on. The pipes run very close to the bulkhead so the insulation will help also it will make the engine a little quieter. Didn`t know about the copper ease being a carcinogen! I`ll wear gloves from now on. I still like the idea of slopping it on under the wrap though
  21. Great cover, very retro
  22. i did'nt get mine right back and it still looks like the day i done it So long as that wasn`t yesterday that is pretty impressive Thanks
  23. Thanks guys, do you know if the exhaust paint will go on over light rust? (edit, I have just read the spec and apparently it recommends total rust removal) There is no way I am going to get the manifolds back to clean bare metal so I think I might be wasting my time with paint which may not stick, hence the copper grease idea.
  24. I have wire brushed the loose rust from my Essex V6 Manifolds ready to wrap them with fibreglass wrap. I was wondering what (if anything) I could put on them prior to wrapping to extend their life? I was thinking about a coat of copper ease! On the tub it says it will withstand 1100 degrees without burning or melting and prevent corrosion, so would it work?? or will it smell or smoke or worse?? what do you reckon.
  25. Good mag, loads in it a happy subscriber.
