  4. Used to use these guys! They are based at a horse stables behind the gold club! Have a fair stock of stuff but can arder anything in pretty cheap so its worth a phone call before you head down there!
  5. you'll get about 100bhp with your budget! leave it standard and save up to build something proper! U'll spend more money in the long run otherwise
  6. LSD plate type diffs are designed for race use and not road use and due to this the preload that the plates in the diff are under (usually around 80lbft) causes a clunky kind of creaking noise. The best bet is to get the preload reduced to say 10lbft which will let the wheels turn independantly easier and stop the creaking. It will not affect the way the diff works in any way and both wheels will definately still spin
  7. A friend of mine is nearing the paint stage on his Mk2 Escort and hes struggling to pic a colour. He wants something original but is a bit confused! Anyone know here I might be able to find some kind of colour chart on the internet???

  15. Love it Ian, looks mint. Im coming down with my old man later to fire it up so Ill see you soon!!!
  16. To be honest with you, you dont need to run it in for 500 miles. I was running mine in on the London to Brighton last year which was about 130miles round trip for me and I still managed to sneak in a burnout on the motorway on the way there stuck in traffic. The most important part of the run it is making sure that it starts first time so you are not cranking it over for ages and when it does start that there is planty of oil pressure and if it is a new cam, under no circumstances let the engine idle or you will wipe out the cam!!! This is key to the the engines performance once run in!!! Anyway enough of my lecture, just give it death from the off and change the oil and filter after a couple of hundred miles
  17. Just turn your welder right up and weld the planet gears to the carrier and each other. And dont be shy!!! Just try not to get splatter onto the splines or your shafts wont fit!!! There is no trick to it other then that!!!
  18. nice to see you got it going in the end and I hope my advice was of some use to you!!! When you getting it rolling roaded?
  19. Nice 1 Gaz!!! Wondered where Tony was going as I passed him this morning at about 8 o'clock on my way to play a round of golf! Didnt recognise it with the steels on!!!
  20. G A Z me old china, It all depends on the age of the shafts and what kind of stress they have had in their life and whether they were put back the same side when removed etc. There is no gaurentee mate!. Save your money for now as I am in the process of getting some shafts drawn up for manufacture! 1piece 18 spline unbreakable badboys for budget racers!
  21. Happy Birthday mate
  22. foking awsome
  23. thats the one Im talking about, the only thing I would say about a paddle clutch is it is designed for racing and circuit cars only pull away a few times so they are not designed for everyday road use and you will wear one out quicker than a normal type due to less surface area! The sprint type AP is more than good enough, its what I will be using for my 2.2!!! My uncle uses 30 quids worth of cheap crap from Precision clutches which has worked a treat so I think a paddle clutch is a bit overkill personally!!!
  24. hydraulic clutch will make it easier to use, personally I wouldnt bother with a paddle clutch, just the normal AP sprint clutch will be fine for 190bhp!
