I picked up a cheap XR3 with a 1.8ZVH CVH engine, had a miss fire and wouldn’t rev up properly, checked the compression and it was 120 125 155 185psi (1-4) all the other basic stuff I checked so though maybe head gasket as it also would get warm in traffic. But there appeared to be no oil to water mix. Took the head off today to find some old bits, 1st I found it to have a KENT CAM vernier (and cam maybe?) what cant be too much of a bad thing, and also some odd scratch marks on a couple of the piston's and all 4 of the pistons have marks where valves have touched. But there aren’t marks on the valves. Possibly the Zetec bottom end mite of come from a Zetec with cam belt failure. Poorly set up vernier? Think I am going to have to get the head tested and see what happens. Anyone got any other ideas? Thanks

I got one and use it quite alot, good for oil and tools. Dont normally buy halfords parts.... Def worth getting one!!!

I got the Pacet one that come with my alloy rad from JMC. When it comes on the temp drops well quick! Think its 12" When i was running the 1300 engine and using it everyday changed to a kenlowe elec cos i had the same thing never seemed to warm up to well in the winter, and in the summer if the temp looked to be getting a little high nothin really u could do, but the elec one on and was better alround

Have to agree with most of that, you dont have to worrie if the old bolt will strip and brake and there not covered in too much dirt and grime. Just some of the bloody Elec faults that you come across that are anoying, never come across so many broken wire recently!!
