  3. obviously the official inquiry will ascertain the true cause, but, i was talkin to a mate today that used to be into drag racing, and it has been mentioned that it may have something to do with the parachute, he told me that if a mechanic who was bending down to pack the 'chute accidentally dropped something he may have had in a shirt pocket such as a bolt for instance, and it got folded up unnoticed with the parachute, when that parachute is deployed at the high speeds seen in drag racing, the unnoticed item could be shot out as the 'chute unfolds at an enormous speed! it would be a million to one chance that something like that could end up flying towards the crowd doesn't really bear thinking about does it? as i say i'm sure the official inquiry will find the true cause and i'm pretty certain it will find that it was just a freak accident, the safety and professionalism of these top teams are second to none.
  4. i doubt there will be any as there are signs and notices everywhere that motorsport is dangerous and they accept no responsibility for any injuries caused, you watch at your own risk. thats a pretty standard statement for any circuit/track. i'm sure if it is correct that dan cockerill's car was involved, that the team are analysing everything as to what went wrong and i'm sure they are beside themselves, at the end of the day it's an accident, noone could have predicted what was going to happen and it's got to be a one in a triilion chance of being hit by flying debris. i'm sure that a great sadness is felt by all staff and teams at santa pod that someone was killed watching the sport that them and us all love. a sad time but "thats racing" as they say.
  5. anyone follow american drag racing? a guy called ron krisher had a bit of an 'off' with his pro stock car, click link and look for drivers name in the list for a quick video http://www.nhra.com/2006/events/race18/video/index.html
  6. yes and it just pipped the f40 that was there with it regards mark i believe the story of the F50 was that before enzo ferarri died, he said he always wanted to produce a car that someone would want but could not have, so after long and detailed market research he concluded that there would be 50 people in the world that could seriously afford and would buy an F50, so he only built 49 of them! that woud make that car VERY rare indeed! Close but no cigar, it's in the words of Ferrari spokesman Antonio Ghini, because "Ferraris are something cultural, a monument. They must be hard to find, so we will produce one less car than the market." Hence why they only made 349 F50's. Similarily they only made 349 Enzo's. The F40 was a little different as it was made in the 80's boom when far more people could afford them. Apparantly 1,315 F40's were made. i stand corrected, great pics by the way fella

  19. matthew, if you really want to plaster yerself in osf stickers, then go ahead, fill yer boots i hope you'll be very happy and make many new friends but i thought this was a photo competition photo's are produced with a small electrical device known as a camera and provide you with a picture of whatever the camera is pointed at, for the benefit of this photo competition it should be pointed at yourself wearing osf clothing in surroundings that are as far away from your home as possible, another country or unusual surroundings would be great. sticking stickers on yerself really isn't going to win, is it? also, i see that you've made 9 replies to this thread asking various silly questions as to the rules, yet no pics of you mate, are you going to submit an entry? if you have no intentions of doing so, then why waste everyones time in getting us to explain the very simple rules over and over?
  20. not sure i will be able to bring capri now as i need a new starter motor and dont have the folding to buy a new one at the moment
  21. and would be great to see everyday cars in big print for the garage wall, great motivation.
  22. i reckon thats a top idea bud, how about it bens?
  23. might do.
  24. i'm sorry colin that dont count, no osf clothing in sight sorry your disqualified
  25. i know that the hotel could be anywhere, so im trying to fing some photographic proof of where the hotel is. anyway it's the only entry so far so i'm winning
