  1. 'I wish them Harris lads did Zetecs.............'
  2. I'll be sure to let Cosworth Racing know your findings Gaz... I'm sure they could have saved themselves days of testing.... and pots of cash... Sorry lads... you havent got the design right its just down to the weather..... you didnt need to employ all those propeller heads... just Bill Giles.. he could have told you what power you were going to make.... apparently, nothing to do with trumpet length.. just if cows are lying down you will make more power....
  3. That has been carefully modified to combine performance with practicallity.. It was either the trumpet or the shell.... and the trumpet bought it.
  4. At least I'm man enough to grow side burns you cheeky munkee.... It would take you a year just to grow a mooey... Keeps my face warm in the winter as I aint got a heater in the Anglia...
  5. Good to see you Darren (& Jo).... wished I'd seen you let them Golf boys 'ave it !! Me and the Lotus Twin Cam Anglia that was on our stand had a tear up down the A14 on the way home... didnt 'alf get some looks especially hooning past the Rolls Royce boys from the show up the road
  6. I had standard 50mm trumpets on my 45's and the car made 177bhp, ditched them in favour of a set of Titan Motorsport Billet Trumpets and the car made 180.6 That was a cheap 3.6bhp and it moved my peak power from 6500 to 6950rpm so with a little more work on the carbs to account for this change I may have seen a little more. The trumpets were designed using test data from Cosworth Racing's F1 testing and this was used to get the ideal radius on the mouth and then the ideal taper. On Duratecs people are seeing nearly a 10bhp increase from these trumpets
  7. Hello Mr Sam Good to meet you too... shame I was in a queue to get out other wise I would have stopped for a proper chat. Love a 2 door Corsair..... shame you didnt get to meet the owner
  8. Depends on what you call hot.... its 180bhp... (as seen in this months Retro Ford ) And its not quite like the BDA ones, this is a complete cam cover that just bolts straight onto the head, the BDA ones bolted over the original silvertop rocker cover. Which made it a bit of a problem when you want to put oil in because the filler on a Zetec is at the back and the filler on a BDA is at the front. So unless you mod the Zetec cover underneath you had to take the BDA cover off everytime you want to put oil in... which was a big naff really.
  9. E R A are Engish Racing Automobiles, a company from the 1930's which became BRM in the 1950's Raymond Mays was a director and a driver for the company aswell as Sterling Moss who had wins in the early 50's in an ERA car. The engine is a black top Zetec Nice innit
  10. I can see what people are saying, its like the Classic Ford Night at Ace Cafe, it got completely swamped by idiots in RS Turbos and Cosworths doing 'stunt driving' to show off to people who aint really that interested. In the end the night got banned The sad thing is those people in those cars were desperately trying to blame Corsa and Nova drivers You cant argue that the Sierra Cosworth and the Escort Cosworth werent Classic Fords the day they rolled off the production line because they are icons. BUT It would be a shame if a show dedicated to the old Fords we all know and love got diluted by too much modern stuff. Perhaps a suggestion for next year would be to lump all the plastic stuff in one area designated by year or something, that way if people want to look at that sort of thing they can, if they dont they just walk on by.
  11. How good is the shell Russ ?

  17. I was wondering what was going on Gympants.... aint you got that Anglia sorted yet.... Are you taking it to the Pod on Sunday ?
  18. There is a diversion in place that will take you off the M1 at Junction 8 and back on at Juntion 9 via the industrial estate in Hemel and over to Redbourne. Shouldnt be too much of a drama Go up the A1 to the Black Cat roundabout and then in on the new Bedford Bypass and up to pod on the A6 Alternatively come off the M25 on the A41 and head round the back end of Hemel up towards Aylesbury, come off at Tring and head towards Dunstable. OR Go through St Albans, up through Harpenden and on to Luton and the either back on the M1 or all the way to the Pod on the A6
  19. I believe the figure that has been talked about is £500 but its been done and then never fitted so its a minter all flowed etc
  20. That looks lovely Gaz... Shame its slow..... Glyn I know a chap near Dunstable who has a head thats all been sorted by CTM.. but its not going to be your sort of money I dont think..... I know how you like car bits like you like your women.... and your swift wanks..... CHEAP......
  21. Mate... already been there done that.. just not with Tickover. I basically bought up the last of Fords stock of 2.8i caliper bolts, which amounted to about 20. I then went straight to a specialist fastners I use in Bedford and tried to source some. Nothing doing, they are a special thing Ford had done. It would be possible to machine them from a modern bolt but then there was issues around case hardening etc etc etc so I never pursued it any further. Perhaps it will need a Capri specialist to take it to the next level. But while theres still scrappers around people will knick them off them.
  22. One thing you will need is longer caliper bolts to get them on as there is a spacer that sits between the caliper and the leg to re-centralise it over the disk. The standard bolts are too short, which is why there was a longer bolt for the 2.8i Which is no longer available from Fords unfortunately.
  23. They are stronger than a crossflow box, but dont have the same bolt pattern as say a 2000E box (3 rail) or 2000E type box (Single Rail) To bolt one to a Crossflow you would need something like an RS2000 Bellhousing.
  24. The Brisca Boys (Short Oval Racers - not a boy band) want them because they have them redone with two 2nd gears with slightly different ratios for different tracks, saves messing with diffs. Expect around £50-75 on Flea-bay, perhaps more because they are getting scarce now.
  25. Give Russ at RPB in Bedford a call (01234 330330), they do them for all sorts of things and they can have custom ones made but be prepared, they aint cheap. They do look the nuts though, beautifully made. You will also need a set of extended wheel studs, he should be able to sort them for you too.
