  1. I am with Vista on the Pinto, I have similar numbers to Vista from my standard 1600 GT Pinto and that's 106 BHP on the dyno set up, and all its had is a clean up of the ports in the head and blend the port throats a bit, a Piper BP 255 "Hi Torque" cam and the dyno man tickled up the main jets in the carb. That feels very nippy on the road, hope Vista does not mind my figures saying they are similar to his, same numbers, different order (ha-ha), but at less than a mile in the last 3 years, driving my C Max feels fast.
  2. It's a personal choice at the end of the day, the same as your own home, you furnish & decorate it as you please, I would never knock anyone for modifying their car, be it Ford or anything else, their car, their money, their choice. For me personally, it is standard for me, I don't mind period accessories, my first Escort Mexico MK2, came with a 2.0 Pinto in it, but also the very well worn original 1600 Pinto was with the car, so that got a rebuild, and put back in the car, it also did not have rubber over riders, but as they where available as a factory and or dealer fitment, I had those on it as well, again it is all down to what the owner likes, but I would guess most valuations are based on standard car specifications rather than modified.
  3. A little of what you like won't do you any harm mate. The wife burnt my tea again last night !!??, bloody hell how can she Gerbil up a tea bag & boiling water !!??.
  4. Mostly, I have Carbon on mine, bless her, says she is still getting used to cooking on Electric, still its only been 37 years for F**K sake. !!??.
  5. Hi, For sale is a band new Girling brake servo for R.H.D Escort MK2 RS 2000/RS Mexico. Never fitted, no master cylinder with it, just a brand new servo and complete with brand new take off elbow/non return valve. North Wales, as new, £375.00 plus P&P. Cheers. Al.
  6. No problem, they were good in a Capri in their day.
  7. After long last, got around to taking a pic, I might be slow, but I am SHI**, !!!!!????? Don't think it would go into a Escort Engine bay, with the brake servo tower and clutch cable and whatever, for me I do prefer the original cast "RS" manifold, but that is how I like my cars, standard from factory, albeit mine is GP1 cast manifold, still looks the same but a bit thicker.
  8. Yep, deffo a "D**K on that Pussy". Ohh, I say Matron........................
  9. Wish I had, I bought a new Group 1 manifold back in the early 90,s, and I sold the standard RS manifold on Ebay about 4 years back, should have kept it now as they are getting a bit rare without cracks in, seen a few come up on Ebay over the last couple of years, but the prices are going up as well, a nice one now is £200+.
  10. Bought a new bag and belt for the missus for a fiver. Boy she will be chuffed with how the hoover picks up bits now, save her back bending over to brush clean the floor.
  11. Will put a picy up later when I get home, but yeah, lot more room in a 4 cylinder Capri engine bay, would the original cast RS manifold not be a perfect fit !!??, I was under the belief that the cast RS joby flowed quite well, and far better than the cast non RS type exhaust manifold. Al.
  12. Hi, I have a used 4,2,1. manifold from a Pinto Capri, genuine Ford type, it is in my way and I was about to through it out if any good to you, if you can collect if you want or cost of post, I am only in Gresford, let me know if you want a picture of it, shame to waste it. Al.
  13. Hi, Difference between 1.7 & 2.0 Essex V4 is crank, rods and piston's, bore is the same., heads have smaller valves, cam lift and duration also different between bigger and smaller versions, inlet manifold is a single carb single choke on 1.7, 2.0 is twin choke, slightly different timing curve on the dissi, but the blocks are good for both capacities. Fiber wheels are a weak link, more so if the engine has ever overheated as was quite often in the Zephyr/Zodiac and to an extent Transit, and over revving them can bring on instant stripping of the fiber wheel teeth.
  14. I LOVE THEM. xxxxxxx. To be honest, I like them for the rarity factor, I was brought up on 1.7 & 2.0 V4,s They did the job at the time, and was at its best in Capri MK1 body shells, and at there worst in MK1 Transit,s, Zephyr/Zodiac, but found there way under a few Ford bonnets like Corsair etc-etc. Can be tuned, but not responsive per £ spent on them, not smooth, and was replaced by the much more reliable and more tune-able T-88 "Pinto SOHC engine". I have 4 brand new crated 1.7 H.C. V4,s complete, and they are worth scrap value, but I paid £25.00 each for them, so happy days, one day I will strip all the ancillaries off them, and weigh in the blocks/heads. For me if a car had one under the lid when it was new, then it should still be there, 90% of people with V4 powered Fords will have lifted it out to fit either its big brother V6, or a Pinto engine, but yes I have a soft spot for them. OK I will stand in the corner with a letter "D" on my head.
  15. Nope, our mechanics would use a "MONKEY WRENCH". Ha Ha, I,ll get me coat.
  16. Not good at all, I would love to own a car that once belonged to my Dad, The owner must be heart broken, is there any chance it could be rebuilt !!??, I know 90% of the stuff is burnt away, but the shell is still intact !!, I would have no problem in giving away parts that would help in its resurrection, as I am sure others on here would do. Whatever comes out I would just like to say how sorry I am for the owner, 2020 has not been nice for them to date.
  17. Hi all, They will sell your car for you on a commission basis, but they also buy cars to sell on from themselves, but they don't really offer the buyer anymore than if you bought direct from the seller and did all the normal checks for correct ownership etc-etc, just a glorified in door car showroom.
  18. Yes, and KGF like to make a BIG PROFIT as well. 2 years ago, I sold my 50k from new Capri MK1 3000E, well known and in as new if not better condition I sold it for £32k, KGF offered me £14k saying that there is not much interest in them YEAH RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
  19. So very sorry to hear this very sad news, never a good time to lose a loved one, made even harder due to the seasonal time we are in. Thinking of you.
  20. Hi, I might have a complete pair of Capri 3.0 V6 struts, but the discs will need skimming as they have been standing a while, or they might just need a good sanding etc-etc, will have a look in the morning.
  21. Hi, If anyone is interested, I have a pair of brand new Genuine Ford Capri front struts, and a brand new Genuine Ford Capri 4 cylinder front engine cross member, £280.00 for the 3 brand new Ford items, collection from North Wales or postage at your cost. Any questions or pictures please ask.
  22. If it has been standing for a very long time, the chances are the rings are stuck in the piston grooves, striped a 1600 non GT crossflow last year, genuine 38K mile engine, not run for 27 years, but been stored complete in a crate wrapped in a polythene sheet, when I stripped it, every single ring was stuck solid, ended up breaking them getting them free, but the bores had very little wear in them, all turned out good after a re-build with new rings and shells.
  23. I know it is only loosely connected to "OLD FORD CARS", but the TV series "THE PROFESSIONALS" did a lot of good for the image of what was brand new Fords during the run of the series, that we now regard as "OLD SKOOL FORDS", but today the actor Gordon Jackson would have been 96, he was, as most of you will know, played the part of George Cowley, the hard hitting boss of CI5. Anyway, it is a real shame the actor is no longer with us, along with Lewis Collins, I personally would like to remember them, they were a big part of my growing up and the reason I have a MK2 Granada & various other Fords that would have been the norm in the background of most of the series. RIP Gordon & Lewis, you brought me and so many others pleasure with the cars of the show, and still do with the re-runs. Gone but not forgotten. I thank you.
