Well i have been pulling my hair out over the last couple of weeks since i bought my car wondering whats the best way to go with regard to an engine, not an easy choice :? first i thought i'll keep the cross flow because its easy, then i thought about a vauxhall xe,but after adding up the cost i wasnt sure, then i thought about a mk5 escort RS2000 engine, but again the cost of carbs or throttle boddies plus engine management just didnt seem justified to me,so what i decided to do was get the engine i have always wanted, lifes too short and all that crap  so here is my new engine,im soooooooo fooking happy i just cant put it into words

Won't you need a Cossie ECU to go with that?

ECU loom Map sensor Rad Fans intercooler Gearbox Gearbox tunnel Atlas new prop bigger brakes. .

Mod the original exhaust if you got one or make up your own from the down pipe back

Not cheap unless you got the lot less atlas and brakes as a package and the engine dont need a rebuild

But more power for you £££ with a YB,Good luck with it

Cheers for the comments fellas :D ,yea i need to gather a few bits but ive got most of it,i thought i would rather go with the engine i really wanted, even if it means it may take a little longer to get it in there  plus all the other alternatives were looking like they were going to work out almost as expensive to get in there,im going to run the car with the 1600cc cross flow for the meantime, then once ive got everything then take the old girl off the road and put the cossie in  probably after the summer

Why do i need a bias box and crossmember :? i didnt think there was a different crossmember for the pinto and x flow, thought the mounts were just different

You have the choice of changing the sump or changing the cross-member.

I'm not sure I've seen standard brake set-up under the bonnet with the Cosworth engine, is there room for it with the turbo and all ?

as seen on ebay, guessing you did a good deal outside :D

You're pretty much have to use a bias pedal box as it brings the master cylinders inside the car, the downpipe/manifold will clash with it if you don't.

Some people have squeezed them in but all that heat is not good for them - you'll want a better braking system regardless.

Mine does'nt have a servo so theres plenty of room  the plan is to get it in there and upgrade as i go  ive already got a set of cossie rear calipers and discs to go on and you can buy spacer kits to use vented discs up front which is pretty cheap,it will be a rolling project

Yea done a deal outside of ebay

I was just planning to see how things go when it went in and get advice from people in the know  at the end of the day i will have to put in whats required,if theres no room then i'll have to get a bias box :D

You'll be needing one any way if going rear discs.
