O.K then... here goes!!!

I have lived in my house all my life, and before me, it was passed through members of my family, but there was always one neighbour up untill about 7 years ago.

He used to make caravans for a living, and also liked his Fords. Just before I was born, he had a Mk3 Cortina Estate, but the year I was born (1979), he sold this to his next door neighbour and bought himself a brand new Mk5 Cortina Estate in Red.

He had the longest garden in the road with a massive double garage, and a seperate small one. In the small one was a caravan that he made, and in the massive garage stood his Mk5 and a caravan he bought. (I think at the same time he bought the Cortina)

Well as time passed, obviously he got old and unwell. He suffered with Alzhiemers, his wife died years ago after a fall, and before he left us, his dog died. The house got into a bit of a state, and so did his garden. He used to grow fruit and veg which he sold to people locally, but it ended up a massive jungle.

Eventually, he died :( But the house and garages stayed as they were. But just before he died, there was a family that had moved into a small council house nearby. The kids had no respect for others or their property. At the time me and a good mate had scooters, my mate had a knife waved at him, and I was stopped in the road and my keys stolen. After a talking to, I got my keys back, but that gives you an idea into what these arseholes were like.

One day, my neighbours garage was set alight, the fire brigade was called, and it was put out. This wasn't the end of it though. The local morons used it for storing stolen property, doing drugs, and emptying charity money boxes. The word on the street was that they would come back and torch his house (which never happened), but they did create a bit more havvock.

One morning, me and my mate quite spectacularly caucht 2 of them in the little garage skiving off school in the little caravan. You should have seen there faces once we busted in with a hammer and a pick axe handle. We called the police and they were taken away.

I had a look around, and went into the big garage. The caravan was a chassis from where they set fire to it just days before. The Cortina was open, and the drivers seat, steering wheel and dash were melted where they tried to torch it. I also found a rag in the fuel filler.

As time went on, everything was quiet, untill one day, they got into the big garage, and finnished what they started. The garage was blown to bits after they blew up the cortina.

Since then, the house went under renovation, the new owner being a builder, but he then sold it after the place was broken into and his birds BMW X5 was torched on the drive, and his Porsche was stolen.

The new family are o.k, and guess what lurks at the end of the garden??? Yep, a burnt out shell of a Cortina Estate. The drive that runs behind the houses wasn't maintained after my neighbour died, and they couldn't get it out... so there it stands, all fenced off.

I will go out tomorrow morning and get some pic's, or if my neighbour is in today, I will pop over.

The stuff that happens in the mountains :(

that is a sad story. :(

a real shame. same as my nans house in ireland in a way too. my grandads old car is still there parked in the same spot where he parked it a few days before he died in 1986. i cant remember what it is, but... i dont know if she didn't have the heart to sell it or if she couldn't be bothered!

claim that landy because you WILL be able to sell it. theres people that do replacement chassis' for em and there'll always be someone who'll put the time into rebuilding it, or breaking it for spares to keep another one going.

That was a sad story about the cortina estate! I've been working at a car auctions recently, just makes me wonder what cars that are currently selling for £30 - £40 will be future classics. Just wish I had a time machine!! :D

spanners, pliers, screwdrivers and a soft faced hammer may be needed to break the manifold to head seal as it may be a bit stuck after all these years

just undo it straight off the head so you get the carbs and manifold complete in one piece and indo the accelorator cable and coke cable or just snip them with wire cutters if they are seized

oh and dont forget the WD40

so wd40, spanners, pliers, screwdriver, hammer

just been talking to my parents and they 100% DISAGREE with me getting the carbs.

they say its stealing and i should trace the owner and ask them if i can take the carbs.

my mates parent slive next door so i could ask them if they know who owns it but i doubt that will get me far.

what you YOU do in my position?

do i leave them?

do i ask my mates parents and try to trace the land owner?

do i swipe them and never tell my parents?

HELP!

To be honest, if the owners wanted them, they wouldn't be there.
