they wont be moving!

have been there longer than i have been alive!

If they've been rotting in a shed for nearly 20 years, then there's a very strong possibility that they aren't worth having anyway. Can you still get spares for ancient Zenith Carbs?

where do they have car auctions with cars for £30

Well they go for that at auction, then theres some cost of a hundred quid or so for fees, so guess its not that cheap. There was a G plate Sierra 1.6 went through on friday for about £30.

Its at the BCA in Bridgwater BTW, theres some really crap cars for sale there though!

I robbed a load of stuff of a mk1 estate back in the day, was proper pissed, woke up with window winders, door handles 140 mph 6 clock dash, rear bumper in my bedroom

and a massive hangover!

Anyway felt bad about it so chunked it back in the boot! It was probably scrapped anyway and the apple pie who had recovered it probably never noticed! Had a lot of good bits on too, flared arches, roll top recaros, quarter bumpers, deep dish wheel, and wide mex steels.

I feel like I should have a moral to this story but not sure what it is....

so what i need to know now is...

HOW AMNY HBOLTS HOLD THEM ON AND WHERE!?

i can only find 2 bolts. one at either end...anymore?

right..bolts underneath..hmm thats a problem as there aint much room!

yes i will be taking the lot  MUCH EASIER!

would of been even easier if it had a bonnet and everything didnt go rusty!

i could also do with a knife for the pipes that i cant get off.

Antz, i duno if this lot are havin a laugh with you but that looks like a crappy old pair of strombergs to me, two a penny mate, if you want some my mate runs triumphs and will give you a working set for nothing!

strombergs, like SU's are akin to the ford VV type carb and of course are variable venturi, if you really want to run a set then use 2 of metro MG HIF6 SU carbs with the built in float bowls, they are inch and three qtr each and you could probably get two for about 30 quid.

after all this fuss about these carbs i was expecting a rootes engine with a set of 40s on the side

I'm inclined to agree with you there, Zenith/Stombergs carbs are not brilliant and SU's can be hauled out of any dead BL car, Allego, Mini, Marina, Ital, Princess, Metro, Triumphs, Rover 2000, 2300 etc etc. The inlet manifold would be the issue, ok carbs & good for economy but a Weber or Dellorto is better for a Ford.

Antz, in the spirit of robbing aim higher buddy, where's the satisfaction in getting busted for lifting some snotty old paperweights? :D

its all the fun of it!

i know they are worth jack shit and arent anythign special! but its the fun of it and i get the knowledge of removing carbs without knackering up my own car

not really a result.

snaped my spanner on first try so now ive got a nice cut and bump on my arm

swore and decided it wasnt worth the effort so nicked the grill from the landy instead

things to take mate are the bits that are gonna sell like hard to get trim pieces, chrome mouldings and badges.

forget the engine bits go for gold :-)
