Osgood Isgood Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Got tugged by the local Old Bill twice in ten minutes last night!! (Got a rear light out) First pull at Taplow station, second just after Skindles Bridge in Maidenhead....as most won't know where the bejeezus these places are, they are about a mile from each other....don't coppers talk to each other these days?? In fairness the first copper was ok and just advised me to get it sorted asap, but the second pull both coppers got out and one was a wet behind the ears youngster with serious attitude problems (he'll go far!). Three in the morning, raining and his implication was that I should fix it there and then, and why hadn't I fixed it already, and do I know it's a criminal offence etc etc etc..patronising little tw*t! I had to do some serious lip biting I can tell you!!

ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I wish all coppers were like Daggle. Never met him, but he seems a top man.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I wish all coppers were like Daggle. Never met him, but he seems a top man. He is a very nice man... a very very nice man... a very very very.... well... you get the picture It has to be said, all the times I have been pulled over (except twice), the Police persons have been really nice. One was a WPC who I was chatting up.... Hhhhhhmmmmmmmm The two times they weren't was when: 1. I was being a div... but got off with a warning and a flea in my ear, 2. I was pulled over at 1:00 in the morning years ago. I was driving a mates Renault 5 which I was doing some bodywork on. It has to be said, it wasn't a shed, it just had a few dents. Anyway, little did I know, there had been a hit and run earlier that night, so they pulled me over. There were 2 coppers. It has to be said right now... I am not racist, and what follows is not a racist statment, but one was a whice PC, the other was a young black PC. I didn't have any ID on me because I had just finished work at Pizza Hut... I kept getting mugged, that is why I never carried anything on me. They pulled me over, the white copper asked me the usual questions and was quite polite about it. He was quite happy that I was who I said I was, and wanted to send me on my way. But, the young black copper treated me like I was guilty, asked me to sit in the passenger seat so I wouldn't do a runner, kept questioning me, run checks on the car, and finally after 45 minuites, decided to ring my house, and wake up my sister and dad so my dad could identify me and the car I was driving. My sister went loopy, 1:45 in the morning, I worked at Pizza Hut on one of their scooters, a massive history of muggings, some involving being held prisoner, knives and in 2 cases, a gun. She answers the phone... yes it is so and so from the Metropolitain Police, may I speak to a Mr. Lawler!!! It also has to be said, the white PC was getting quite annoyed with his collegue, but his collegue wouldn't listen. I really should have put a complaint in, but I was so pleased to finally get home, I didn't bother. He is definatley one copper I will not be very polite to if I see him again, and it is coppers like that, that give all nice coppers a bad representation. AR***OLE!!!!
bortaf Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I Know a few coppers into old school all of em are top chaps, i also know a copper who i grew up with and he's a compleat tinker lol, nowt to do with being a copper, he's allways been a tinker lol Concidering the amount of stick they get i think they are heros to even admit to being one let aloan give advise (round of applause for the boys in blue ) Oh and by the way there is this one parking ticket if you have the time Anyone know how to get this brown stain off me nose
Daggle Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Cheers for the compliments boys! Its the same as any job, there will always be a bad penny to ruin things or make peoples lifes hard, geeez when I was a trainee mechanic I used to get bullied something rotten, I mean really bullied to the point of nearly being hospitilised.... Just remember that most coppers are normal people who can have bad days just the same as anyone else can, but on the whole are doing the job, cause they want to and feel that they want to make a difference and catch the villans.....
Osgood Isgood Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 [Just remember that most coppers are normal people who can have bad days just the same as anyone else can, but on the whole are doing the job, cause they want to and feel that they want to make a difference and catch the villans..... I have to admit I'm guilty of forgetting that sometimes! To be fair, most of us realise it is the suits that make policy not the coppers themselves, they are just the poor sods who have to carry it out! Like I said at the start though, three out of the four I dealt with were perfectly reasonable, and a 75% success rate is a pretty good result in any ones book!
Mr Sam Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 i got stopped and acused of having a bar to hold my exhaust up ...yes thats the panhard rod, its part of the suspension
omj624p Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I'm always very happy to be stopped and checked, especially late evening/early morning. Put it this way, if my car was stolen in the early hours of the morning and police didnt stop it for a check then I would be well annoyed. I almost expect to be stopped if I'm out in it at odd hours.
Jay_harrier Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I hate to say how many times I've been pulled over & they've always been pretty decent - IF you are decent with them. There are 3 incidents that spring to mind, one where I unwittingly out ran a big Opel thing through the country lanes but he nailed me when it opened out into decent A roads - he let me off with a warning about being scraped off the trees if I'd lost control & he'd be the one having to inform next of kin - the book would be thrown at me next time. He was a bit annoyed that a 1600 Nova with a suspension kit had just annihilated his 3 litre car on the back roads. Another time was when an unmarked police bike followed a group of us on a Sunday morning bike thrash - we lost him & he radioed ahead for assistance - police helicopter and a road block (a court appearance for all 6 of us). The police bod complimented us on our riding - 29 minutes of police video from bike & chopper though. Last time I was caught doing 107 (I'd just sat up & rolled off the throttle ) on a m-way on my bike at 12-50 am, they suggested that I might want to keep my holiday spare as I would probably be banned – I was. If you get angry, annoyed etc then they have to be on their guard incase you get violent. Calm, polite & humble have always worked for me - I've be let off many other indiscretions……
