johnny_h Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Anyone got any miracle cure? I have removed the plastic pinstripe from the side of the fezza and it's left behind this NASA approved industrial superstrength sticky shit. I've tried boiling water and a plastic scraper but it hardly touches it. CheeRS

johnny_h Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 Try a cloth with thinners on but only do a bit at atime worked for me before I'll try that now.

emu Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 nail varnish remover. But check it on a door shut or something, dont want to be to blame if it ruins your paint.
RFChris Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I used rubbing compound when i did the Cortina. Just apply it, leave it for a few minutes and then it should just 'ball' off. Chris
xpackken Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 thinners matey should take it right of . just dont rubb anywere that you may have dodgy paint .or you will take that with it _________________ Two and a Half Men Forum
Haynesmanual Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 You can get some stuff called tar and glue remover works a treat
Fiesta Steve Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I'd use thinnners, but go easy and try a bit first in case its shit paint
Rick Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 before you go putting thinners or anything on try a good t-cut first you dont wana upset your paint
V8ian Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Use celly thinners on celly paint and it will take the paint right off, WD40 will take a multitude of glues off bodywork, so will petrol or lighter fluid, Carg cleaner will also take a lot of glues off, but will soften celly paint if you use too much. Ian
crapichris Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 u can get a pinstriping remover from a paintshop
johnny_h Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 Thanks for all the ideas, I took it to my work and used some tar and glue remover combined with their power steam cleaner in the end. Took the fooker reet off! The car is being resprayed so I wasn't too worried about paint damage. The end result will be in my Toadsta resto thread soon.
CéDriC Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 i use a sticker remover from the garage where i work before. 3M, and body shop don't use them at all, always leave enougth to help a home work.
105Speed Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 WD40 removes chewing gum from hair ! Also as Khan says, Autoglym to a Tar Remover, that works a treat and doesnt fook up your paint.
