105Speed Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Coming from the RS world where almost every bonnet you lift is just a sea of polished ally and silicone hoses etc I've had some stuff developed for the Anglia... but not sure if the Old School world is into it. What do you think ? Header Tank and there is a washer tank version available. Breather tank / Oil Seperator Screen wash tank
puddy Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I prefer that to a cobbled together bodge job! puddy
Cookie Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Nothing wrong with a bit of shiny stuff to make the old girl look good I'd say in proportion mind, would'nt like to see an osf looking like a fully chavved up bling rs turbo where you need sunglasses to open bonnet, but a few bit here and there will keep it looking clean and fresh
BaileyMex Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I've got a bit of chrome and silicone under my bonnet, not too much mind, so I cant see a problem
Capri_Steve Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Yeah having silicone and chrome under mine i had to say yes, but would have put "Don't mind" if the option was there
Trevmk3 Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 the odd bits i agree with but when its cover in shiny stuff you would be afraid of driving it.
DeuceCoupe Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 you have to have shiny bits in the car got to be done
deluxe Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 waste of time and money, and i would feel really really embarrased to open the bonnet in front of normal people
over_head_cam Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 waste of time and money, and i would feel really really embarrased to open the bonnet in front of normal people No really. Don't hold back, tell us what you really think
105Speed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Report Posted October 7, 2006 Good advert Every company has to do market research mate... How else can I find out what people want. Last thing I want to do is pin my shirt on something that aint going to sell....
Gareth Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Internet survey thru various clubs I think a chromed rocker cover look the muts Can't beat silicone and polished shiny bits under the bonnet :D
deluxe Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 waste of time and money, and i would feel really really embarrased to open the bonnet in front of normal people No really. Don't hold back, tell us what you really think Well bling stuff certainly makes uraban educated people giggle and wonder if engine bay polishing is the only spare time activity where that hillbilly owner comes from. Certainly see more bling bling in Nottingham than Nottinghill
over_head_cam Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 So what you're saying is that we shouldn't buy shiny new parts for our OSFs because other people (supposedly educated) will think that we are all idiots? Have you been to Notting Hill lately?
Gareth Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Last time I was in the area it was fookin busy
Guest V6MAT Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 we watched ppl polishing cossies and sticking mirrors to the bonnets etc and their engines covered in chrome why? we sat there in the mk3 tina cover in mud from the 2hr drive
over_head_cam Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Who said anything about polishing and mirrors? This thread is about the possible viability of a new product that just so happens to be shiny and a bit bling. Isn't it?
105Speed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Report Posted October 7, 2006 waste of time and money, and i would feel really really embarrased to open the bonnet in front of normal people Perhaps when you see the whole install you will change your mind. I certainly will not be embarrassed to open my bonnet to anyone... But cant post any pics until next week when we've fired the old girl up.

This thread is about the possible viability of a new product that just so happens to be shiny and a bit bling. Isn't it? The point of this was to find out if people who are into their old school cars like similar things to people who are into their new school plastic cars. I guess its look to accompany functionality or just functionality. Lets face it you could get a old plastic header tank off a Sierra or Granada, stick it under the bonnet and it will do the job fine and probably cost a 10th of the ally one.
Jelly Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 waste of time and money, and i would feel really really embarrased to open the bonnet in front of normal people YKT.
over_head_cam Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 TBH Neil I think it's nice that we can do either and not have to worry about what other people think (ideally ) As I'm on a really tight budget and have to watch every penny, I would probably choose to use whatever I can find to do the job, but try and make each installation as neat as I can. For others who may have a little more to spend on their machines, I say why not have the brand-new shiny parts.
deluxe Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 So what you're saying is that we shouldn't buy shiny new parts for our OSFs because other people (supposedly educated) will think that we are all idiots? Have you been to Notting Hill lately? Not for a year, but I went through marylebone this summer. None of the parked cars had any bling. May be there are some closet blingers with bling hidden under their bonnets
atomic punk Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 If its there for a reason may as well make it look good but not if it;s just for the sake of it
mk1super Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Nowt wrong with it i think its more down to personal taste, i like to see nice hoses and shiney bits, while others may not. But thats becuase were individuals with different tastes, but one thing we all will agree on thats if your on here you fine taste in automobiles
