Gibson Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 i dont see the point of making things shiny for the sake of them being shiny... however lighter or stronger bits (anodised aluminium, carbon fibre, silicone hoses etc) just happen too look cool anyway... so why not? show that you have gone for the best bits!
deluxe Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 me personally thinks blue coolant hoses, white indicator lenses and stuff like that looks better on 20 year old cars that 40 year old ones. A bit like mini skirts on 20 year old girls and 40 year old ones Just dont look right on those they are not intended for
Guest V6MAT Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Who said anything about polishing and mirrors? This thread is about the possible viability of a new product that just so happens to be shiny and a bit bling. Isn't it? and all that extra shinny stuff
Burns Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 might look nice under a bonnet of a proud owner who likes to keep it clean under there, adds a little bit of sparkle in my opinion. however, there are limits... neon and the like but a nice bit of chrome (within limits, most of our cars came with chrome trim after all) adds a little flare
Jimsiss Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 If I had the money to get alloy parts I would, its more of a uprating older parts thing than trying to get a nice shiny bay though
antz Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 im personally more bothered about how well it goes
Dom Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 The way I see it Henry Ford II gave us shiney bits on our cars, he didn't cover them completely but did it in moderation and it looks good. I'd say a chromed engine bay is a no no but nice shiney ally tanks and silicone bits get the thumbs up from me

escamino Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 If its there for a reason may as well make it look good but not if it;s just for the sake of it True.
CéDriC Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Not interested in Bling... But if the alloy bits gave weight gain...
Posse Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 the prob i see neil with all this bling is that its the profit that makes it dare and at the end of the day it doesn't matter who has made the tank as long as it works buts that my opinion. what everyone need to do is a group buy.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 7, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 7, 2006 Well, I have a lovely silicone hose kit on my RS .... but then again I do get it trade as we make silicone vacuum tube and straight hoses where I work and we supply SFS Performance and so they let me have kits at trade price And yes, I do like bling under the bonnet as long as it's not over the top Neil ... you will have to consider becoming a sponsor on here and then you can advertise your products legitimately
BaileyMex Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Well, I have a lovely silicone hose kit on my RS .... And on the Mex....Cheers Jo
slimrs Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 in moderation a bit of chrome looks very cool, i really like the coloured hoses aswell to give a bit of colour under the engine bay. a really nice, tidy car can be badly let down by an untidy engine bay, but some people do get a little carried away with it all.
105Speed Posted October 8, 2006 Author Report Posted October 8, 2006 Neil ... you will have to consider becoming a sponsor on here and then you can advertise your products legitimately Jo, as I said earlier in the post this is not an advert. There are no prices, there is no phone number or details of how to order this stuff. And if you e-mailed me tomorrow saying you wanted this type of thing I couldnt supply it as ProAlloy have only made one set of tanks for me and they are on my car. I simply want to gauge the level of interest in this sort of thing before I place a big order and lay out a grand or more getting stuff made. The same question has been asked on the 105Speed forum. If I was advertising I would have said the silicone hoses we do are in plain black to retain the period look... but I havent.... I will speak to you or Posse at the next OSF meet re: becoming a sponsor...
Admin Vista Posted October 8, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 8, 2006 Nice, but whilst I do have a chromed rocker cover and cam cover anything more than that is not for me. Only room for one thing under my bonnet and that's horses I was at a local show recently where a corner of the Ford showroom had been filled with XR3's and RS turbos etc and there was so much of it it just looked silly.
escort21 Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Rather it went like stink than be tarty ...eg fiesta steves black fez
RETRO_AL Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 so thats what you was doing at pro alloy the other day i personaly went for the none polished, still looks great tho with out worrying about polishing it all the time forgot what they called it
105Speed Posted October 8, 2006 Author Report Posted October 8, 2006 ProAlloy are just the daddies... Where were you then Al ? Didnt see any old school stuff there...
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Neil, Love the idea of a washer tank version of the Header Tank. Depending on how much they are, I will have one Also, if I didn't have a heater, the washer tank in one of the heater holes looks the dogs proverbials!!!
RETRO_AL Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 ProAlloy are just the daddies... Where were you then Al ? Didnt see any old school stuff there... my car was not there, was there the week before,i was picking up my cam cover they had welded the breather pipe for me,wayne mentioned you
Mrp Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 I think some people may be missing the point a little.. Coming from someone that actualy owns a Anglebox i think they look sweet and the washer bottle and oil catch a definate big thumbs up. Nice suttle tucked away using wasted space. Nice to see something made just for us. We dont have the endless suplply of parts like you escort boys, 105speed and Milton are realy the only people making things dedicated to a 105e. Afer all its not halfords tat nailed to the inner wing by someone called barry. There thats my 10 pence!! Well done neil
