bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 yesterday me dad had the consul classic put in for its mot. all was good apart from the mot'er said that he wont pass it again because the indecators are the wrong colour. there clear/white on the front and amber on the rear. hes saying to have white ind on the front u need red to the rear. i said hes talking out of his arse cos are mk3 zodiac is set in the same way with the same indecators on the front with amber to the rear.just to add to the problem the front ind/sidelight is a twin filment bulb so if we paint it orange we would end up with an orange sidelight sorry its a lot to read through but would begreatfull for any feed back
Admin Vista Posted June 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 23, 2007 Go to a different MOT tester next year, or alternatively use the same one and if he fails it on it appeal against it. Are they standard like that or have you changed the lenses?
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 every classic / mk3 zodiac is the same as far as i can tell. white lens to the front and amber to the rear. the garage my dad uses use a diffrent test station to the one i take my escort to. will try n speak to a couple of other zodiac owners on here as that mot station let a mini go through with structrul welding needing to be done
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 hers a coulpe of pics i have of mk3/consul classics as u can see there all identical
Admin Vista Posted June 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 23, 2007 So has he failed it now or said that he'll fail it next year?
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 So has he failed it now or said that he'll fail it next year? passed it this time but wont next year.
Admin Vista Posted June 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 23, 2007 That's easy to get around, by passing it this year he's agreed it's acceptable if he fails it next year I'd have said you have grounds for appeal. Probably be easier just to go somewhere else next year though.
Col-ashtonmobile Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 ask him if there,s a law coming in between now and next year which will make him have to fail it , if he says no then he is talking shite about passing it now and failing it next year
negri Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 as long as they flash orange im sure your lenses can be any colour you like the lenses can be clear ,blue , smoked what ever as long as they flash orange
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 as long as they flash orange im sure your lenses can be any colour you like the lenses can be clear ,blue , smoked what ever as long as they flash orange thats the problem they only have one bulb with two filements like a brake/tail bulb. so they can only be both orange or both white. what the tester is saying is with a white front indecater u have to have a red rear one which i didnt think was legal anyway
negri Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 hmmm confusing so the front lense is white and the bulb works the side lights and the indacator ? is it the same with the back ? one bulb does both ? a bit of a task but can you not remove the side light from the indicator lense and get an electrition to fit them into the head lights ?

Dom Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 It's not about the hassle of changing it, it's the fact you shouldn't have to
ExotronGammaPlusSequencer Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Take it somewhere else next year, ive never had any problems like this before. In fact my 100e just went through the mot & that has white lenses on the front & amber on the rear. The mot testers manual says vehicles after sept 65 must have amber lenses & vehicles before can use white on the front or red on the rear http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 It's not about the hassle of changing it, it's the fact you shouldn't have to thats what im geting at. if we had looked round and found them all to be the same but diffrent to ours we would have but as there all identical wee shouldnt have to

darren lewis Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 this is correct, im an mot tester and he really should get up to date, problem is classics can become a grey area, if you know them your ok, if not as so many testers dont they become a bit well lets say hitlerish, if hes passed it now jason, take it back next year, if he fails it, appeal....................
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Author Report Posted June 23, 2007 thanks guys think hes getting confused between u can and u got to have
