just had an accident in the mk1 escort, thought id take it out in the rain the day before someone was due to buy it and instead of the rear letting go the front did. but i did take an old mondeo with me

it should be repairable and im sure insurance will cough up for that

Sorry to read / see that mate, it looks like quite a hard smack too.

 

As to insurance I reckon unless you have a fairly high agreed value policy the insurance will write that off.

a pillar is actually ok, the chassis rail is a little bent and the bonnet has bent the bulkhead. might have to space frame it

 

as for insurance, they will give me nothing. he will obviously claim off my insurance for his car but i dont have to claim do i? i would like to keep it if only for the running gear etc if it isnt savable

You're not fully comp then? If you are, no you don't have to claim, but his claim will still count against your No Claims Discount so you've nothing to lose by claiming yourself. Plus as you own the car you can retain the salvage if you want it.

yes mate im fully comp but i never had an agreed valuation done on it so ill probably get offered close to nothing, and id like to keep the car
