Right well i've just weighed a 205 blocked 2 litre pinto from a ford capri . With an intake manifold , carb + air filter , flywheel , water pump , fan + pulleys , alternater brackets (but no alternater) , engine mountings , dizzy and leads + spark plugs etc and a sump still full of oil = 111 kilos :thumbsup:

Dave Roberts over on turbosprt has weighed a complete x-flow WITHOUT a flywheel at 95 kilos . So add on a flywheel and it's hardly any fooooooooking lighter than a pinto :wink:

I've just read on a kit car website that a zetec is the same weight as a pinto :mrgreen: so it's also now called a "boat anchor" and no good in anglias anymore ( they keep telling my mate that his pinto angleboxes handling has be ruined by his heavy pinto :roll: ) . :ykt::thumbsup:

I always remember the day i sold my old 2.2 pinto to Icky. There was a young bloke (20) working with his dad at my nans house where the engine was in the shed.

He said to me don't worry i will put it in Ickys car for you,and with that he went in the shed picked the complete engine up with carbs on it still and carried it down the garden and through the garage avoiding mine and Garys escorts and out into the alleyway without stopping once :shock:

Ive never seen anything like it :lol:

He was a big bloke with big arms,but still amazing :lol:

Who's got a complete zetec we can weigh then or am i going to have to buy one for £30 to find out for myself !!!!!!!! :lol::lol::lol: I've got an XE in stock so i'll weigh that when i can move my car out of the way :thumbsup:

I have just weighed a 711m x-flow from an Escort.

 

With inlet manifold, carb, flywheel, oil pump, pullys, dizzy, plugs and sump of oil (to keep it as similar to your pinto as poss) it weighed = 101 kg !!

 

Making your 10 kg difference spot on Gaz :thumbsup:

 

 

Now, what I want to know is whats the difference in weight in a complete Cosworth YB head & a complete Pinto head ??? Anyone have the answer to this or the parts to weigh ?

apparently the sieera i4 lump im using is slightly lighter then a pinto and i was reialbley informed that it would be a boat anchor in and anglia, but my estimate is a xflow will only be about 5/6kgs lighter then it :think: get a zetec weighed and thats when the bullshit stops :thumbsup:

I could have weighed my mates complete N.A. cossie engine last week but it's now fitted to his car so i'm too blinking late :sad: . I'd laugh my tits off if a 2.0 litre zetec is heavier than a pinto though as i've lost count of the people over the years that have told me how much lighter they are !!!!!!!! :zzzz: Dave Roberts has also weighed a 2.0 pinto recently and got 107 kilos so it's deffinately a close thing :thumbsup:

I reckon an aspirated cosworth engine would be lighter than a pinto due to the alloy head,but not lighter if the steel cosworth crank is fitted :thumbsup:

How about all those dicks that have be saying that a duratec is ultra-light compared to a super heavy pinto and weighs the same as a x-flow :dope: . So if that's true it's hardly any lighter then :mrgreen:

Are the Cosworth cranks heavier then ?

 

They are heavier than a standard cast crank mate :thumbsup:

My cosworth crank has been lightened and knife edged,so its slightly lighter than normal :lol:

Well Icky managed to get a duratec out of his van on his own,complete engine minus flywheel and inlet manifold :thumbsup:

Perhaps we should of weighed it at the time,if i think about it when he picks up his new engine then i will get it weighed :thumbsup:

You'd need a mighty powerful X-flow to embarress mine, and a Fester isn't that much lighter than a mk1 Escort

 

What times are you running then Vista? What engine capacity too?

I don't run times sorry, I have utmost respect for people that are into it but drag racing isn't really my thing. It's a stroked 2.2

Rummour has it that a zetec is 122 kilos :? , i can't comfirm this yet because nobody keeps them anymore and just weigh them in for scrap ( best place for them i say !!!!!!!! ) :lol::lol::lol:
