hey flash, if your on a budget just buy a ready built 1700 it'll be much cheaper (assuming its not a knackered one!). Even a straght build to 1700 will cost you a good 500 sheets by the time u have bought new pistons / rings / shells / gaskits / head skim / cam / larger valves etc etc

My 1700 Xflo is mated to the 4spd 2000E box running a 4:1 diff

I love it, but it doesnt like motorways for long periods

But does love Traffic Lights :wink:

At the moment mine is running a standard 4 speed after 3rd gear went. It was one of those ''i'll chuck a standard box in temporarily because I got one sat here'':roll:

So, standard drivetrain except 4.1 LSD.

Iv got a 1700 with standard type 2 4 speed and a 3.89 diff, motorways not too bad but it would do my head in on a long journey though, i dont think my box is gonna last much longer, would be much better with 2000E one, good engines though, screamers :ykt:
