As I understand it (and I could be wrong) a hot rod is an old style car, 30's, 40's or early 50's that is a stripped down big motored beastie, where as a Street Rod is a more luxurious version of the hot rod, with billet alloy in bucket loads, big i.c.e etc,etc

As far as I understand, 'Hot Rod' refers to a modified pre-50's car that has a flat windscreen.

'Street Rod' is virtually anything else that's modified.

'Custom' is specifically an RS 2000 (I should know)!

It's good to see that the 'Hot Rod' boys (NHRA) don't welcome 'late model' rods at their races or shows. Gives you a warm feeling inside, doesn't it?

A “HotRod” is a stripped down/Back to basics car with a larger more powerful tuned engine installed.

A “Street Rod” is basically a luxury HotRod usually with a custom paint job and completely re-vamped interior.
