H.P.E harry Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Ive got a pair of black plates on mine, ive had them on there for a couple of years and have never got pulled for it. The police never really know much about the old cars so you can blag it most of the time.

RATSPORT Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I believe the manufacturing cut off date was October 1973 - which means that by the time the cars sat in a dealership and got sold and registered that can often be a registration date of several months or more into 1974, or longer. I think in this instance its the manufacture date which counts. People often ask me this as I sell these black plates as this is what I was told by DVLA (who of course are not always right even about their own rules)
