Leonard Nemoy Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Greetings from San Diego. I've checked out this site for some time. Most of it green with envy. English fords are not too common here. I have wanted one for many years. Well, I've decided to join the ranks of the enlightened and am in the process of picking up a 66' Cortina GT. I figure now would be a good time to introduce myself as the newb questions will follow shortly Cheers

Benny Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Where in San Diego are you? I've got two Mk.1 GTs, and I live in La Mesa. Let me know if you ever need any help, or any advice on where to get parts. You are right, they're are pretty rare over here, but maintaining them is no big deal if you know where to go for bits. Where did you find your car?

Where did you find your car? Hey Benny, I'm just down the hill in Santee! I'm pretty sure I have seen you driving the Lotus colored Cortina around for years. I'm picking up the car from a guy named Mike in Kensington. I'm sure you know who he is as he has quite a few Cortinas' including a MK1 V8 like yours. Thanks for the offer of help! I DEFINATELY will be asking you for info on the parts. The car is decent but will be needing alot of the little things gone through.
Benny Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 You may have seen me, or you may have seen my buddy James (or both of us). James lives in El Cajon, and works in Lakeside.....both of our cars are painted in Lotus colors, and have V8's in them, so they are pretty easy to mistake for each other. Yes, I've known Mike for about 12 years, and I actually worked for him for a while before I went to college. Which car are you buying from him, the running GT with the Lotus paint job, or one of the other project cars he has?
Leonard Nemoy Posted August 26, 2007 Author Report Posted August 26, 2007 I'm picking up the running GT in the Lotus colors. Definately needs tidying but will be a driver as I do so. Colorful guy Mike. Dude is chok full of info. He gave me a hairy ride in his V8 Escort yesterday I was speechless. A V8 is in the cards for my GT.
Benny Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Check your personal messages, we should meet up sometime soon.
