Pinto block with a Chevy Cosworth head :thumbsup:

 

Very unique Dave Abraham built Pinto engine,

Dry sumped with Steel crankshaft, Steel rods, Steel flywheel, Twin paddle clutch,

16 valve Chevy Cosworth Head (originally designed by Cosworth for Delorean).

Running on Twin 50 webers with ulimate Tony Law exhaust manifold.

240 BHP with 200 Ft Lbs Torque. (Cams available to bring to 270BHP)

Very little rallies done since rebuild.

Ready to bolt into a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort

Its where minimum oil is kept in the engine, the sump is very shallow and oils stored outside of the engine area and pumped through the engine, and cooled outside of the block.

 

Keeps the oil cool and stops oil surges if I recall the article I read!

Yeah, that's absolutely right, generally the pressure is kept constant too, as it's pumped directly into the engine rather than being sucked from the sump. Basically, it's pumped into the top normally, and then scavenged from the bottom back into the catch tank, where it's easier to keep cool.

It could still be a pinto block, if you notice the dizzie is a remote item powered from the cam pulley, the original position for the dizzie is being utilised by the dry sump pump, which is also where the standard pump is driven from in the pinto originally as it's all driven off the auxiliary pulley there.

WTF?? does look like a pinto block i must admit, but the exhaust and carbs are on opposite sides to a pinto, looks hard as nails though would like to know what its out of?? :ykt:

Looks like a B.D.A to me with a dry-sump + some dodgey dizzy mods :wink:
