Whats the fastest you've ever been in a car?

Now I'm not trying to advocate speeding and stupidly fast driving here, but I'm sure most people will have pushed the limits a few times in their lives, or held the loud pedal down that little bit longer than necsesary, so there must be some great stories floating around. Anyone got any to share?

 

The fastest I've been in 120 in a volvo estate down a dual carriageway, only as a passenger though so its not that impressive I also wrote off my first car in my first month of driving, something which I'm sure a few more people will have done too

Dunno ,my speedo only goes to 100mph but it exeeds that by someway(on a private track of coarse ).

My Celica does 145 mph before hitting the limiter in top but sat nav suggest its about 4 mph over the top. If the limit was higher it could do more.

 

That was on a private road of course

 

My bike does 165+ mph (on the same private road)

Had my impreza hit 157MPH on the limiter in top. On the same track the guys used above

best i've managed was at the silverstone track day, my little 1.1 went off the top of the speedo (over a ton)

 

i wouldn't have done it if i'd known that the corner at the end of that straight was where tony came off

And 105+ in the van (only got 4 gears remember) both on a private test track.

upto around a ton in the mk1 escort, had the speedo showing 140 in the astroid so it was probably doing about 10mph , these were both on private roads that run down the country

M1 2;30 am in mates highly tuned scooby no other car in sight 156 at 4500 revs. redlines at 5500 but it gets a bit scary going sideways on the m1 those long corners get ever so tight (btw i dont condone speeding on public roads but i wasn't driving so "i'm innocent officer")

I did 130 in my mondeo. Private road of course.

 

Then what ever a 2006 seat altea 1.3 hits the limiter in top at.

 

That was on the autobahn in germany. Great fun.

So funny to be pushing the car as hard as you can then some porsche goes past as if you're not moving.

Down the straight at Castle Combe at 140mph in a GT40 but only as a passenger.

I was also clocked at 140mph in my old van but it was according to my mates speedo in his XR3i and down hill but reckon it could have been about 120mph at a push.Private road I believe too,strange that.

161 mph a few years ago as a passenger to my dad in a sierra sapphire about 20 mins after he bought it on the way home

Had my cossy of the clock but must have been over 150.....But drove a 911 turbo in the eighties back from Rennes in France..Was driving in excess of 160 mph but felt like 100mph....

As for kev ragging my cossy it was my Red one and it pulled like a train
