Woohoo! hopefully no rain tomorrow so i can get the cossie nearly ready to fire!!

Just got to connect up all the bestek ignition kit, get the exhaust on (may have probs!) and sort the engine breather system out along with the coolant plumbing and thats it!! I can fire it up!!!!

Toying with the idea of wrapping my exhaust manifold before i put it on?..... what ya reckon?

ive wrapped manifolds before and it made no difference whatsoever. Plus it started flaking after 4 months.

Defo a waste of time. Arron at HT's says it only makes a differance on FWD cars

I wrap mine.

 

But it's stainless and it sits under the carbs.

I wrap mine in two small places, by the starter and the alternator, the pipes run VERY close. Otherwise I wouldn't bother at all.

 

They also run close to a water pipe, I choose to wrap the water pipe rather than the manifold.

What's your reason for wrapping? If it's heat reduction I recommend cermakroming.

Well, i dont really like them painted but do like the look of manifolds wrapped. I think i have decided against it now and will just put it on with nothing and let it grow old gracefully!

I found you either have to wrap the mainifold which I did once and it does go a bit crappy or wrap the stuff around it, I did notice a hell of a lot of difference when I had nothing wraped up the temp when though the roof!

You could get it ceramic (sp) coated but that costs a bomb but is worth it, I dont know your set up but if you have heater matrix pipes running near by you best off putting a sleave on them

That is cermakrome, it's a metallised ceramic coating that does wonders for heat reduction. Yes it's quite pricey (think mine was around £220 inclusive of VAT and carriage) but given that your manifold will last almost indefinitely as it rust proofs it as well, plus wrapping drastically decreases manifold life, how long is it before you've covered your costs by not having to replace the manifold?

I went for ceramic coating then thermocrome or something, got it done by the same place Camcoat, was around £200 all in i think took a little while tho..

Does look nice tho...
