hotrodholty Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 has anyone seen this programme on discovery. iv been eatching it for the last couple of weeks. basically a so-called car designer has moved to london to work with a so-called mechanic to create one off cars out of scrappers. the cars they build are a complete joke. you wouldnt wanna sit in one let alone drive one. for starters every car they build they fit spacers on the hubs for a wide track and use fwd wheels with no offset instead of putting on some deep sish wheels on the originall hubs. one set of spacers where 8" what a fookin joke. last week they put a zetec in a fiesta out of a mondeo, basically used the full mondeo front end (struts drive shafts, g/box ect)but used all the fiesta strut tops and body work meaning the wheels had that much negative camber it looked like one of them charactures of a car you see at the shows. if you aint seen it yet, watch it. if only to make yourself feel better about your own mechanical skills
Twinkle Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 missed the last one, amazing how htey end up looking wonder how much filler they use over those special bodies
hotrodholty Posted November 27, 2007 Author Report Posted November 27, 2007 id love to see them clip a speed bump and watch all that filler spiderweb its way accross the whole car. you noticed they all have the windows blacked out so you cant see the trim.
Twinkle Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 just having a look at their gallery at the boy racer car and cant stop laughing http://www.discoverychannel.co.uk/chops ... html?no=11

lotusless Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 iv'e seen every show + they havn't built one decent thing yet. i like the way they find a retard at the end saying he would buy it but they never sell any.. funny to watch though
Muttley MK2 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 What drugs they been smoking when doing these things.I hate to say it but the oldies harking on about the good old days of the 70's,well lads they've finally turned up and are still shiite just look at that taxi they did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to point out as "an oldie" that in the seventies I was building and rallying mk1 escorts and mk2 tinas. In those days we were fitting oscars, minilites and all the items deemed "de riguer" today. Please dont knock what went b4, cos all todays osf scene is based on what us "oldies" put together in the "shite" seventies.
Nettles Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 I like Chop Shop for what it is. You've got to remember that this is filmed for entertainment and not as a "how to" documentary. Of course the cars are outrageous, thats the whole piont. I don't think there ever meant to be road legal. It's just a bit of fun.
Copey Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 that BMW Sumo thing actually looks pretty damn cool
Jarrodm Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 The Jag ones "Different" Always wanted to chop my 420g.... Jarrod
over_head_cam Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 This thread would lead me to beg the question: What did you create today, and get on telly for doing and have a blast doing too?

Was pointing out the custom cars from the 70's,all back ends jacked up draylon covered every thing names written all over them. Not the proper slammed on minilites and able to drift around the corners like they should

Not the proper slammed on minilites and able to drift around the corners like they should Back in the 70’s that sort of modding was the cool thing to do. It’s obvious that you prefer slammed cars on minilites but maybe in thirty plus years time that look might be considered wrong. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it not “Proper”.

But here we all are doing the same with these and the only difference is they're doing it on newer cars.

All I can say is lets just hope they never get their hands on an OSF. I think i'd rather watch Mike Brewer and Ed china working their magic on modern classics in Wheeler dealers
