It's all bollox really then , just get them all to the same weight and race them off the lights instead !!!!!!!

what i dont get is stuff like this, we ran a completely stock fiesta ST150 yesterday and it showed 149.7 bhp on my dyno, if that car was run on sanspeeds rollers would it show 161 bhp?, also the wheel figure from sanspeed and track and road is showing as 163 ish and we showed it as 145, huge difference there, i really dont know what to believe, my money is on the track and road dyno being 100% spot on and mine being a load of expensive red and blue shite, i give up and am now going to become a male stripper.

mate, dont get the hump! it WAS NOT about slagging off people's dyno's, and more about WHO's dyno was most accurate to MY engine on HT's dyno. Your not gunna lose any customers unless your insecure about it!

You saying about the Fietsa ST reminded me of something actually......

I went to a RR day @ Motorworx about 4 months ago, and there was a BOG STANDARD, brand new, st150 on the rollers, it made 149hp. Now, the same day, my cossie made 350hp and 390lbs of torque, BUT, on sunday my cossie made 338 on yours, so i dont get why that would be different, but the ST 150 the same.

like i said at the start, dont turn this post into a slagging contest, cos i'll have it deleted and start again

indeed! any dyno is just numbers really. Best way to do it is race something exactly the same spec! :ykt:

Personally i feel Peters had a bit of calibration done.. as the few cars i knew of that went on Peters and T&R , Peters normally worked out 25% over T&R's rollers ..

But recently he has been almost bang on the money ..

Toby what did your car make at Sanspeed's and what did it make at TOTD ?

Regular 190-194 Sanspeed one 201!!

TOTD 162.8

See other threads too for my other comments.

No direspect, but as i have said before, if Sanspeed`s rollers are reading high & there are a few people that have said..

Then your car Toby, & James` car are even more amazing, running mid 12s, I dont think that taking my son James` car/engine as a example, which of coarse I would, if Sanspeed rollers read that wrong then, making a guess that James` car/engine, is putting out 135/140 bhp at the flywheel, I don`t think an engine pushing that figure would run a 12.76 quarter, we were amazed that he ran that time, with the 169bhp that Peters rollers said.

Lecture over. :lol::lol::mrgreen:

This thread is very interesting I am sitting here typing in my annorak  but, in all seriousness, if all dyno's need calibrating, how often should this happen? Should they be checked soon after being installed like the first service on a new car? Yearly or what? Our compressor at work, which is NOTHING like a Dyno  is stated to need a sevice every 2000 hrs.

Hey you got me all wrong there fella!, i understand that you are not slagging anyone off, but its not your dyno showing the lowest figures is it!

I said from the outset well done for doing the test, its important that this stuff is shown because it can help everyone understand the limitations of chassis dyno's

So if Sanspeed and Track n Road are the same as H.T. Racings engine dyno then if i run my atmo cossie at Sanspeed next week then whatever it says is right then ? yes or no ?

Deffo mate, and i wasnt having a go. ;)

ANY chassis is gunna be a guess at the end of the day, as its not directly bolted to the flywheel itself!

i just now know who's rollers match up to my engine dyno figures, and thats who i'll use if i ever change anything.

coincidently, i was speaking to Steve @ T n R, and he said all the engines that come off his engine dyno, then he fits straight into a car HIMSELF, read within a couple of HP of each other. Dunno whether thats true or not.

so if i take my standard pinto to one of the other ones it will run about 120bhp+ :?:shock::shock:
Do it

was at TOTD on saturday, the silver 4 door mk2 and ran 102 bhp and 117lb of torque, only mods are an ashley system and no air filter

Thats a fantastic comparisson, and is the best way to check the accuracy of a chassis dyno, wish i had an engine dyno too, maybe soon.

a new non rs should be about 98bhp i think

No mate , no point as they make different power once fitted into a car due to air flow restrictions from the inner wings etc

taken from wikipedia.........

2.0 EAO

The 2.0 L (1993 cm³) EAO was used in many vehicles from the early 1970s. Bore was 90.8 mm (3.57 in) and stroke was 76.9 mm (3.03 in). The 1971 Pinto and Capri used this engine with a single Weber 32/36 DFAV carburetor and 8.2:1 compression. In this application, it produced 64 kW (86 hp) and 140 N·m (103 ft·lbf). The engine was produced in Cologne, Germany.

Output in the Escort RS2000 was 82 kW (110 hp) and 161 N·m (119 ft·lbf).
