chris@torque of the devil Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 so do you HONESTLY think my car could have lost 13hp since i put the engine in my car about 8 weeks ago, and by adding a single box competition exhaust system and 3pc manifold (which they use on the dyno i believe). Think i need some NOS to boost it up. Honestly, i really don't know fella, maybe, maybe not, but there really are so many factors and variables to take into account, you have almost matched your engine dyno figure on a chassis dyno and you are happy with that and so would i be. chris
boXXer Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 fair do's mate btw, do you install NOS systems, or know of someone who does? need to speak to steve first before i do it though.
chris@torque of the devil Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 we do install nitrous and even stock the gas mate, you obviously would need a direct port kit which would start at 75 bhp (or 60 bhp on my dyno ). to fit the system properly is fairly labour intensive because we would have to drill and tap the inlet manifold etc.
boXXer Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 that means i'll have to go up to 100hp jets to make 75hp then do you do the complete kits? i can drill and tap the manifold myself, but what else is involved in fitting a kit on a wet system?
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Gas is cheating and ruins your engine . I can't wait until i get my 100bhp shot of spray fitted though
Toby Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 wait until i get my 100bhp shot of spray fitted though Right I'm putting this everywhere!! Of all the hypocritical......!
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Anyway enough of the cheating talk so back to the dynos . Are we all agreed that Track n Road reads the same as Sanspeed then (well a little bit higher but not much) and Torque of the Devil reads the lowest ?

Think i need some NOS to boost it up. gaz lost 10plus hp by fitting a air filter so quite possible you lost 13hp. i can get you 15 more hp with in 5 mins on your engine but you wont be able to drive it like you do at the moment theres your compromise between balls out IVE GOT 200HP bulls**T and IVE GOT 150hp and love it

Are we all agreed that Track n Road reads the same as Sanspeed then (well a little bit higher but not much) and Torque of the Devil reads the lowest ? well mate, you might see that 250 bhp after all one day Gaz!

I will do if i spray in some horses or test it somewhere else !!!!!!
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Anyone been on Northampton motorsports dyno then ?
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 i think tony [petrolhead01] has i think Neilm from 105speed's modified ST170 zetec made 187 bhp on northampton motorsports dyno . I'm sure that Tony's zetec 100E made 235 bhp on it as well . Has anyone whos been to TOTD ,Sanspeed , Track n road etc been on northampton motorsports rolling road as well then ?
kevmk2 Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Fooking 11 pages now, last time i looked it was 5 Sod all these power figures, just get out in your cars and drive the bloody things and enjoy em

alladdin Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 So Toby , did Peter use the biro and slide rule on your sheet and write the magic number on it or have you applied your own maths to get to 190+ bhp . If so then it don't count as only he can fathom out the workings of the proper oldskool "earthquake graphs" from his machine . It's great at Sanspeed , if you've never been then shame on you cos you get a real sense of nostalgia over there . A proper oldskool engine tuner with no fancy gadgets , bodies sitting in the boot to get traction , Mk2 Escort B.D.A. rally car in the background and he still gets the same numbers as most of the modern rollers so you 1 say what do you expect ?, 2do a run, 3print a graph, 4 write a number in corner which is close to 1 everyones happy
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 It's just shows you that after years of people saying that Sanspeed overeads , it actually doesn't . It reads slightly less than Track n road which is the same as H.T. racings engine dyno . Don't forget that an engine dyno with it's near perfect engine position with trumpets in the open breeze and no underbonnet heat or airflow restrictions MUST read higher than a rolling road should
Fiesta Steve Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 It would seem that Sanspeed and T&R both read just about the same now. But, I don't think this has always been the case as many will tell you, Toby for one (201 bhp down to 160 something?) I think it must have been calibarated recently and is now much more accurate
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 I wondered if Tobys 190 bhp graph had Pete's "biro" bhp figuires written on it or Toby had worked it out to 190 bhp himself . This is because Peter works it out and always writes the numbers the engine made on the right hand side of the graph . A bit like a painter signing his pictures
Toby Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Just numbers What he said!! Gaz - give me some credit you little stirer! I can do some basic maths Fiesta steve, I wonder the same thing! Only one way to find out, but I did close my year on my fastest ET and Terminal so I don't understand where the powers gone? Maybe it was never there originally. Good possibility. There is a SLIM chance the brakes were affected by the strapping down. Also I always run Millers VSP (+2Points) with Vpower. On this occation I ran Millers Competition Turbo VSP (+4 points) with Vpower. (Which I won from CF day at pod and have never run before) My engine is highly sensitive to ignition settings, so maybe a few (5?) horses could be found there? I think I should ring Peter and ask him if its been calibrated recently, and if was out when it was calibrated.
w p e Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 peter told me that his rollers was calibrated and found to be reading low by around 18hp so a lot of people have are running around saying how good there engine is when realy its a higher number so fibbing to them selfs like i am fibbing to you [ you wished it was 18hp lite] just pub numbers aint that the truth
Guest MK1gaz Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Gaz - give me some credit you little stirer! I can do some basic maths I know you can add up 5+5 and get 10 but you'll never understand the workings of the Sanspeed "earthquake" dyno graphs . So did you work it out at 190 bhp then or is Pete's "biro" bhp calculation on the righthand side of the sheet saying it's 190 bhp ? I'm just interested that's all and it will not affect my love for you and your car in anyway !!!!!!
boXXer Posted December 8, 2007 Author Report Posted December 8, 2007 woo hoo! 12 pages! longest thread EVER for me. 'ave it!

When i fitted K&N's to my old 40's, i lost 5hp, even with the correct trumpets underneath.
