My car gave 136 HP & 136 TQ On TOTD Rollers & its dont 60K so I was happy with that Fords quote 144HP & 136TQ (New)

Do you all want me to spend another £100+ £ to prove that as well ???

This is geting out of hand now

ROLLING ROADS ARE ROLLING ROADS & DYNO'S Are DYNOS they both do the same thing but the NUMBERS Might vary , but its all down to the operator & there knollage & Dont know any of them that dont know what they are doing

indeed! looks like the thread has gone to piss, as i thought it would :(

looking at that graph, it looks like you had quite a few runs, and only once it made that power. i would be inclined to follow the average ones that are grouped together.
He was tuning it for a while as it turned up running like a shack of shite with one carb hanging off !!!!!!! . If it was a modern dyno it would have had a computer screen which you could delete the lesser (set up) runs from . Pete's got an antique and he won't waste any paper !!!!!!:lol::lol:

I dont think "gone to piss" is an appropriate thing to call it, its interesting reading with different views on things, i'm new here i dont want to be hated in my first week on OSF just because of some numbers!

 It's not gone to piss mate  . I sometimes wonder what other people are reading as i can't see anything wrong with it :? . It's like watching match of the day some nights , Hanson reckons a teams played well and i think they were crap  , it's just misinterpretations (i must have spelt that wrong :dope: ) :ykt:

At the end of the day its all just numbers. Yes you can use them down the pub as bragging rights but that means nothnig until you actually race the car.

Instead of people comparing different dynos, use the same one over and over again. You know your benchmark then. At the end of the day these numbers mean nothing because theres so many variabilitities and things that can change the readout from tyre pressure to the way the car is strapped down.

If you really care average them all and the closest readout is accurate, otherwise id go for the lower readouts because some places like to quote happy. Not saying anyone on here does it, but if you try two rollers, one reads much higher then the other, your going to go to the higher one again.

Talking of graphs , heres my old Harris pintos 185 bhp Sanspeed graph then Mr retromotorsport . Twin 45's and points :thumbsup:sunbeamtonysmk1porschemk1escort055.jpg

Oh dear.....

Not wanting to drag anyone over the coals or start a debate or anything  but how did you have 10 KW (13.6hp) at ZERO mph?

Notice also that you're showing no trans losses on the big power run! Pen slipped I recon.....

I think it has been very interesting to see the comparisons from the various dyno's that are used.

Steve, your engines speak for themselves and you really don't need to prove anything - they are tried and tested and come highly recommended - my other half has one of your engines (Ian, white RS2000) and has driven it hard for the past 4 years .... it still has a single carb and isn't far behind a 2.1 on 45's on the road which goes to show it's worth  and it hasn't missed a beat :ykt:

Chris - I don't think that people will avoid you because your readings are a little below others. Your professionalism on Saturday and care with our cars was second to none. I would deffo trust you with my pride and joy

You will always get slightly different figures because of the variables with the equipment, temperatures, set ups etc and this we can see from the graphs shown here today

A worthy exercise I think guys - well done

chris i'm sure your not hated  i think this is a very interesting thread (great work boxxer  ) it would seem there are all differant things that can affect the figues (ie. filters, air temp etc) so very hard to get an exact figue but i think the most important thing is how your car performs on the road and the for tuning etc you use a rolling road you feel happy with :D

i would have to say that i was very happy with peter at sanpseed as he did a great job of tuning my carbs but i was also very impressed with TOTD and would not hesitate to use either again

yeah, it was well worth doing it

as i said at the start, it was a comparison to see who's dyno was CLOSEST TO MY ENGINE! thats all! not anyone elses. I enjoyed doing it.

The trans loses go down to the black line with the "V" in front on the bottom of the paper . Hard to see on the dodgy photo . Do you want to see some more for it because i had lots ?!!!!!!

cheers fella, i'm sure im not hated either lol, but people will always believe the higher figure, its natural, Boxxer for one has just said he always going to go to one of the dynos that showed the higher figure for future comparison, yes it may be close to the engine dyno figure but that does not mean that it is repeatable on a different day or for other mods, its true, you should always stick to one chassis dyno, that way you can see the results of improvements hopefully.

Thank you Jo for the compliment too

Everybody is think about Numbers ,Numbers ,Numbers, Numbers :banghead::banghead:

Please remember

The most important thing is how it drives

Well Said Steve

I want to get my car on a rolling road to get it set up and tuned again properly, after all isnt that what all RR's and dyno's are for anyway?

As long as when I dump my right foot and it goes how I would expect it to go then I'd be a happy bunny

Here you go . This compares the same engine/car on Sanpeeds dyno to Southern carbs and injections dyno . Only 1 bhp between the two of them :thumbsup:dyno1.jpg

and thats what i would be after in the future. If i added/changed something to my car, i'd like to see the most accurate figure that my engine would be, if i was to take it out, and stick it on a dyno.

i'd 100% use you in the future anyway, lol. As you aint far from me at all

Thanks Gaz...

so theres a graph making 185bhp

and heres a graph making 186 bhp

Sanspeed.jpg

look at the left hand column ..

just me being silly ..

and then serious

Like has been said .. its just numbers

and like i've said before ... they dont matter , as long as you go in with a do a 1st run, and by the last run you have a car that drives better.. and by that i mean it may have made 200bhp on run 1 but only 198 on run 10, but the curve has got better, no det, no lumps .. you can still say its got 200.. just use the first graph down the pub, and be safe in the knowledge that you have a huge lump of torque under the graph .

Happy Christmas eveyone

Mr Retro , Pete works them out on different scales with his magic ruler  . The southern carbs and injection ones more clear

my tupence worth. chris get gaz over to yours and run it in 4th gear then you WILL be up with the figures on other graphs not that figures matter. keep up what you do thats good enough for me.

You'll still be saying that this time next year!!

Gaz how about that power spike! Shame it doesn't keep going straight up!:lol:

Posted

Does the sanspeed one say 7000 rpm. Look a the peak power on the "spikey one", where does that turn up?!?!

1 hp out 1000 revs!

Can i just ask a silly question?

Wouldnt running the car in 4th bring a lower figure? CAn someone explain this to me? When my car was run on the rollers it was done in 4th?? :?
