ZetecVan 2.0 Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 I've been driving around in the van today. I wouldn't describe the roads as wet because there's been no rain, but 'greasy' is probably a good description. I've been having to drive very gingerly because the back end kept losing grip. Even in a straight line in third gear at about 70 I could feel it slipping. Right turns at junctions onto main roads where you have to accelerate hard were interesting to say the least! Which tyres do you all use and are they 'skittish' like mine?
BIG G Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 always use round black ones. Ive tried the square ones but they made the ride harsh.
young un Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 our mexico has avon cr322 175/70/r13 which have too much grip so its no sideways action comming from us.but then again we do only hav 84bhp at the flywheel and 55 at the wheels
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted December 16, 2007 Author Report Posted December 16, 2007 always use round black ones. Ive tried the square ones but they made the ride harsh. Are you Awesome in disguise? His reply on the 105Speed forum was Mike i tend to use round black ones made of rubber When all the tread wears off you do have to replace them
Copey Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 i have Firestones on the rear of mine, seem to hold the road well
mk1mexico Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 I use Yoko A539's Mike a cracking all round tyre.
V8ian Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 The problem is possibly salt on the road, when its dry it acts as a dust on the surface, and the salt is slightly greasy when damp and not fully dissolved
BIG G Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Sorry mate boardom has set in. sunday night blues.
Ratters Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 i find the roads a lot more slippery when they are damp like you say than when they are actually wet when it's raining.
jamesg Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Nangkang's tend to be fun, cheap and pointless
countrybumpkin Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 i use a soft compound yokos great in the dry ok in the wet but the will let go if you push it to hard
Dom Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Nangkang's tend to be fun, cheap and pointless Nangkangs are brilliant, unless of course you actually want to go anywhere, at any speed, in something that resembles a straightish line
