Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 I got it completely wrong, when the guy picked up the kent last night, I thought it was going in a mk1, & its going in a mk2 harrier. It is going to be used on the road mainly, but the odd track days & a few visits to the Pod are on the cards as well. Jeff Harris...

Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 What i want to know is ..... who lifted it on the bench ???? was good chatting with you Sunday Jeff Gary, @ Retro Myself & James, but that was from the stand to the bench, I can`t lift these engines on my own anymore, It must be all these goodies we keep putting in these days, Likewise gary, it was interesting chatting to you as well mate, keep up the good work. Jeff Harris..
Retromotorsport Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 It must be all these goodies we keep putting in these days, You dont mean like those heads that come back after porting heavier. As for the lifting ... like James said ... your trying to do to him what you've done to yourself ... It was a bit rough when he said " well your allready f****d so you may as well carry on and leave my back in good condition" the youth of today .. tut tut
sk1300 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Mr HPE, I'm putting a kent 1600 in my Mk1.an have a few questions about how you bolt them together. Do you use ARP bolts for the rods and head? (doesn't look like it but??) The accessory bolts, are they standard ones? Do you go for new stuff? What type of head gasket do you use? May be a bit of a secret but do you fit a crank scraper? Any tips for the Assembly? I ask because my motor I have fitted new pistons, standard rods, the crank is 10thou oversize. The block has been zeroed to the piston height, and running a Wade (Australian) camshaft similar to a piper285. As I'm painting the motor to put in the car all these things can be changed/fitted before it fires, mostly for reliability. Thanks and If you don't want to answer I understand. Any advice would be great. Simon PS: I would love to have it built by you guys but shipping it to the UK then back to Australia would be a killer!

Hello Australia, We do use ARP bolts on the Flywheel & Conrods, & have done on this particular engine but you don`t have to on the head, & we haven`t on this occasion.!! The head Gasket we have used on this motor is a Jusa, but on most other occasions, we use the Felpro.! No we don`t use a scraper.! I will Pm you with some other answers, when I`m next on the computer. As said on an earlier post, we have a guy using one of our engines in new Zealand, in classic rallying & kicking butt, we don`t know what the carriage to & from you would be, but he has done it several times. Regards Jeff Harris..
