I've been with the company longer than the other supervisor and do more work!!! Oh and will they put my pay up, like fook they will! Because I'm going into hosp, they wont do fook all. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
geoffersmasher Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 i got to get me a new job as shop assistant in a bike shop i clear 900 a month after tax sounds like im working for peanuts
RChambers Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 I'm a mechnical engineer atm and am probably underpaid at just over 20k a year but its all good experience and hopefully the money will come later. Sad thing is if I had the same level of qualifications in finance or law or some other thieving job sector I'd be on at least double. Engineering is so underpaid in this country its a joke. Imagine if engineers went on strike, everything would grind to a halt lol
Twinkle Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Join the police! £22K starting wage regardless of qualifications and age. £28K in London. or join the ambulance service for starting wage of 12k actually thinking about it, it may be worth you contacying yuor ambo service as the one i work for has in house fleet department and the money isnt bad, they also have apprentices and a good carreer progression within the fleet dept
Daggle Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Join the police! £22K starting wage regardless of qualifications and age. £28K in London. And you get the added bonus of getting moaned at, spat at, smacked in the head, dealing with everyone elses problems. Plus the goverment have you over a barrel when they implement your pay rise, or not I wouldn't join now, knowing what I do. Im so de-skilled now I couldn't get another job that pays me what I earn now, so I am stuck with it
over_head_cam Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 It doesn't matter what I earn. There's still none left 2 years ago I changed jobs and sorted out a 50% pay increase. Didn't take long to spend more than I earned though

Imagine if engineers went on strike, everything would grind to a halt lol Bloody true that mate. I earn peanuts and and my estate agent girlfriend and my estate agent best mate have always earnt more bloody money than me. I fooking hate estate agents. Ok, they do a lot of hours but they are still unskilled, cocky knobs (mostly) and get paid a fortune! Where as i studied electonics to HNC level and spent 6 months searching for a job, when one did come up, they wanted to pay me 16.5K!! In the end, i told work i was leaving and then they offered me a promotion to service manager! Still shite money though.

Still shite money though. very true mate, i have recently qualified as a mechanical engineer and the pays isnt half as good as some desk jobs, at our place all the people who are supposed to organise everything that hapens and design stuff get paid more than us and they have no idea what they are doing. if something needs designing for a new part on a machine or a new machine then we have to design and make it ourselves and they will just come and measure it after
sab6024 Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 I live down in sunny Cornwall and the wages are crap no matter what you do I'm on £7 an hour and getting a pay rise this month.....YAY I'm a Carer and although you get paid for 30-40hours a week you could be out on the road for another 30 hours. If you get gaps in your rota you have to sit around and wait in your own time. I get 25p per mile which is also pants with the ever increasing cost of fuel Have to work all over Crimbo and New Year and get double time but it doesn't make up for the sitting around At least being a Carer down here you're pretty much guaranteed a job
