Guest MK1gaz Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 It's funny how this forum and the turbosport forum are so different . I don't post much on here but i read whats said most days and everyones on the ball and sensible . On turbosport however they really hate pintos with twin carbs and dizzys etc , they slagg off my old Harris pinto that's now in my mates car and reckon that it must be rubbish because it didn't have 16 valves like all the new engines have . Then they ramble on about how much power it can only have because it's an outdated engine design and is not tuned by cosworth today like a duratec is . Then despite me posting up 3 rolling road tunes on 3 different dynos showing 185 , 184 and 175 bhp they still don't believe it . Then the fact that last month in a full weight 910+ kilo mk1 escort , 3:9 diff , using 5.5 inch wide lotus steels and 165/60/13 firestone road tyres the car ran 13.8 sec at 97 mph at santa pod . They still think that the engine has only 150 odd bhp so what i want to know is , has anyone got a 150 odd bhp escort which is not lightened in any way shape or form that runs on street tyres at the pod . If such a car is on here what time does it run ? Cheers
tim Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 ello gaz so what is a cosworth i thought real mk1/2 escort have pinto and carbs
RallyOrange Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 ello gaz so what is a cosworth i thought real mk1/2 escort have pinto and carbs Here here Tim, had the cosseh in mi Escey, cost more in Grp A head gaskets and a new cylinder head than a little, to result in the last event of 1999 it blowing up completely! Power is nothing without reliability & consistancy.
RFChris Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Hmmmm, isn;t the OLD (gotta be 20+ now) YB lump all cosworth??? Anyway.... Gaz, we like real cars with proper nuts and bolts engines. Our motors are quick because they were designed that way, not just because engine technology evolved. OSF'ers, we know our sh*t. Chris

The turbosport clique harp on about track n road being the only dyno that gives a true reading , what a load of old cobblers i say !!!!!
