mrcheese Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 When i first got my motor on the road i built this recessed grille into the front panel (for extra cooling), i really like the look of it but it took quite a while to fabricate. Unfortunatley i whacked a barrier on the m1 and the front of the car was no more But now i've rebuilt her and don't know whether to put it back in?? What do you guys think? pre smash= after rebuild= what do do? can't make up my mind!
antz Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 not usually a fan of the 'fish mouth' as the boy racers call it but it suits your car do it
Admin Vista Posted March 20, 2008 Admin Report Posted March 20, 2008 Um, no but not for reasons of looks. One small stone coming off the road from the car in front could go though that and puncture your rad.
huxmk1estate Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 i personaly love the the hole thigs atm, but its your car and do what you fancy hux
sporty-corty16v Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 function over form for me if u need extra cooling then cant think of a better way of doing it, plus looks preety cool least it wont be a clone....just dont fill it with chiken coop wire lol
sporty-corty16v Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 not usually a fan of the 'fish mouth' as the boy racers call it but it suits your car do it lol u calling him a boy racer lol
Copey Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 hmmm, not sure, may look better split vertically...or maybe horizontal...one for the photoshop maybe?
mrcheese Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 the rad should be safe from stones as i originally put in a grille sourced from some little rover from the local scrapyard!
Copey Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 see, i should be lookin at saying "chavtastic" but annoyingly the mesh looks good
yodi Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 nly pic I can find at the mo of my old Escort but you get the idea, I much prefer the holes in the front grille but recessed and done properly, luckily I have the tool. Saying that though I don't hate yours like I probably should lol yodi
surfingturnip Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 quite like it myself, fill it with some discreet mesh tho to stop a pidgeon/ pheasant becoming one with your rad though

( bad comparison as i'm a slaphead!)
Mrs O/H/C Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 listen lads thanks for the replys, i think the general feel so far is pretty positive which is nice, by asking you guys i'm being open, i didn't want to be one of them blokes in the bar with a really shitty haircut thinkin it was great and everyone thinkin oh dear! Rick Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 i say go for it it looks good and differnet to the rally circular holes just make sure you mesh it again
mrcheese Posted March 21, 2008 Author Report Posted March 21, 2008 sorry mrs leadfoot! i'm a naughty piggy
Slik 50 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I like it mate Its nice to see something a little diffrent from the norm
Ratters Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 that looks good. not my cup of tea but smart all the same what arches are on it though? they don't look standard.
mrcheese Posted March 21, 2008 Author Report Posted March 21, 2008 they're mk2 golf front arches chopped down a bit, i wanted a slightly flared set of arches with a nice radius to them. best of all the full set chiselled of varius scrap golfs only cost me £20!
FlashCadillac Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 i dont mind it at all im having to come up with something for the capri as i need some extra wind for the intercooler not a fan of the row of holes... always thought it just looks like no thought went into it
bmxdave Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Do it do it do it do it!! Looks the the round ones. Function over form for me, but theres nothing wrong with making function look good. Just dont put a silly coloured grille on, keep it subtle.
oliwally Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 love the arches but not a big fan of the fish mouth, personally think the rally holes look better. but at end of the day its your car.
