Yeomans22 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I read on here its a good idea to remove your number plates etc out of pics you post. I've just decided to remove them from my pics, if you click on edit on the picture, and then one of the tabs says Distort, then just distort your number and re save. It doesn't affect your photos in any post if you overwrite the old image. Sorry if you already know/do this, but just thought i would tell everyone. Its also a good idea to make your photobucket account private so only when you log into the account you can see yours pics. Cheers Paul. Here example of what it is like once you have done it. Does take a bit of time but i think a good idea.
Yeomans22 Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 lol, just the number plate will do
AngliaHunter Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 It's better to completely blank the plate. You can do it yourself - using Photoshop/PaintShop Pro. Even the rubbish MS Paint can be used. Something like The Gimp can be used if you're a Linux bod! That swirl effect can be unscrambled - as was shown recently when the face of a paedophile - which had been swirled - was unscrambled. He was subsequently nicked. Which is a good thing™ ! Having your car nicked 'cause some scrote un-swirled your plate isn't a good thing!
Yeomans22 Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 Yeah i've just noticed the edit thing on photobucket so just having a go, i will try and blank it out properly another day
FlashCadillac Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 this is all good untill retro ford or classic ford come to a meet... publish the photos and your plates are published mation wide what are we ment to do about that??
over_head_cam Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 I all honesty I'm not bothered about people seeing my numberplate. They can see it on the car in the street
Yeomans22 Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 this is all good untill retro ford or classic ford come to a meet... publish the photos and your plates are published mation wide what are we ment to do about that?? True you can't stop them ftom putting it up, but you dont have to post any pics with the plate showing, I read on here you can pay £2.50 and get the address for where a car is if you have the number plate. No point making it easy for people to get your number plate.

Ratters Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 years ago i used to go through photo's & blank the numberplates all the time but then i'd upload them to forums next to other peoples photo's that weren't......

over_head_cam Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Anyone who drives past my house knows where I live anyway

Apply to the DVLA as joeblogsclampers.com and say you need the details for ABC123D cortina illegally parked cortina etc. soon have the address you need.

shaun1.6ghia Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Well done just tell all the low lifes who read this how to find our cars why dont you ,edit your post please yeah plz edit is there any stick on type stuff you can put over your plate for a show?? maybe it would be good for osf to print some stick on pics for shows (something that won't damage or stick too hard), maybe even a magnet of some kind. these can be put over at shows an your plate blanked for pics as long as people dont drive down the street with them...
R1.Andy Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 i did the fiver thing to dvla..you have to fill in a form and they will give you all the history they have ie all the last owners colour changes etc..but you can only get this info if your the registered owner and keeper..
FredTransit Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 It's true about the DVLA handing over details of cars from thier number plates. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/mo ... 915214.ece OK so the sun isn't exactly a fine example of true journalism, but I doubt they would print that if it was in no way true. As for blanking out number plates, I prefer good old photoshop, just hilight the plate with a box and select 'cut' and it's gone. I always take them off my pics, why make it easier fro the thieves?
