Twinkle Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 MORLEY keep on like this and i will ruffle your perfectly preened hairdo with a bulldozer
RFChris Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Yes. Maybe not by age, but deffo by defenition. Not the most old-skool of powerplants but to say the car as a whole ist OS would be like saying a MKI Eescort with a YB isnt. It was a holomgated rally beastie....is say OS all the way. Chris
Morley Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 This was a genuine question...
aphspeed Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Course it is! And by far one the most kick-arse blue ovals ever built! A genuine classic Ford!
jay Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Course it is! And by far one the most kick-arse blue ovals ever built! A genuine classic Ford! ^^^^what he said^^^^
DeuceCoupe Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 MORLEY keep on like this and i will ruffle your perfectly preened hairdo with a bulldozer do it
Guest RF Ben Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's about as old skool as a S1 Escort RS Turbo! Fuel injection, turbocharged, ECU, 4 wheel drive, independant suspension...!!! Not quite a leaf sprung, live axled, carb'd, Escort / Cortina / Anglia / Capri is it?! But then again old skool means different things to different people. To me it is defined by my list above. Ben PS - but I do love the RS200 by the way!
Posse Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 to much plastic on it to be old skool in my opinion and the hearters are good.
Morley Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 The question was is it OLD SKOOL not is it a classic. Does that mean that the Peugeot 205 is Old skool? They are of the same era! As is the Lancia Delta. I just thought it would be a good chance to have a nice little debate as peoples view on what is old skool seems to vary quite a lot.
aphspeed Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Turbocharged, ECU, fuel injected, independent suspension... sure I've seen a MkII Cossie Escort like that....
Morley Posted November 13, 2006 Author Report Posted November 13, 2006 Fair point, but the Mk2 Escort was old skool before it had that done to it. The RS200 was developed to be like that. Putting a live axle in a saxo wouldn't make it old skool So why does it work the other way around?
Guest RF Ben Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 yes steve, but the rs200 came like it from the factory, escorts didn't. just because someone puts a duratec in a mk1 escort doesn't make a mondeo old skool because it shares the same engine / management set up does it? Ben
Guest RF Ben Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 morley the gay beat me to it! Ben
Twinkle Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 morley the gay beat me to it! Ben he's quick with his fingers
aphspeed Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 No no, you miss understand. The point is that the RS200 can still be old skool even with an ECU, turbo etc. Obviously a YB-powered Escort is old skool guys, we've been putting them in Classic Ford for years and years....
aphspeed Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 morley the gay beat me to it! Ben Careful, there are laws about writing that kind of thing!
Wessie Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 i like them - but im unsure what i would class it as?
BaileyMex Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 The car is without doubt a mean tool, but I would not put it under the OSF banner as it's just worlds apart in my eyes
johnny_h Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 The car is without doubt a mean tool, but I would not put it under the OSF banner as it's just worlds apart in my eyes What he said! Use your fookin noggins people. You are all thinking about it too much. Put an RS2000 and an RS200 side by side and ask a saxo driver which he thinks is oldskool.
Burns Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 it's a great car and in my definition is old skool each to their own tho (but not mk3 escorts)
Guest TheXEgrowler Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 to much plastic on it to be old skool in my opinion and the hearters are good. M8,YOU R SO RIGHT,BUT YOU KNOW THAT.......
Gareth Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 ......carb'd, Escort / Cortina / Anglia / Capri..... PS - but I do love the RS200 by the way! No offence but isn't your project 2.8 fuel injected If anyone looks at the banner there are ROAD cars.... NOT rally cars. Kinda says it all really..... Plus it wasn't in production pre 1980. Having said that, I wouldn't say no
