tim Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's about as old skool as a S1 Escort RS Turbo! Fuel injection, turbocharged, ECU, 4 wheel drive, independant suspension...!!! Not quite a leaf sprung, live axled, carb'd, Escort / Cortina / Anglia / Capri is it?! what he said
Fiesta Steve Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Not the most old-skool of powerplants Arn't they powered by a BD engine Still not oldskool though
Pipster007 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 The car is without doubt a mean tool, but I would not put it under the OSF banner as it's just worlds apart in my eyes Ditto
Guest v6dale Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 nope. if they were, it would make the mk1 sierra(which its doors(modded)and various other trim parts come from, did you know that??),mk3 escort and mk3 granny old skool
Dom Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I'd say they were. They're abit like concorde (not physically) since they were both marvelous creations which were given the chop in their prime because there are some stupid people are higher up than they should be.

They are proper marvelous mate! A car specifically designed and produced for the rally stage, not a car taken from the road and made into a rally car - and what was so cool about group B. Just imagine one of them lined up next to a 205T16, 6R4, porker 959, R5 Maxi Turbo and er, BX4TC (the French were bloody optomistic with that one)! F$%king awesome! Whether you think they're old skool or not, you can't argue with that!

Whether you think they're old skool or not, you can't argue with that! Looks like sierra rear lights too me! Is a sierra oldskool? Let me open the flood gates for mentions of pinto's and type 9 boxes! Or id say How many members do we have with RS200's? I'd say to you Mr Morley, You must be considering something in you Mag featuring a RS200 (sorry if your not) but id say take the space up with Something Real oldskool like a POP! Or a series one RS turbo
over_head_cam Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's not just about the car. It's about the whole ethos of 'oldskool' To me an oldskool ford is a car you could buy from the main dealer or sensible money and use every day. Now we have done what thousands of people fro the 70's and 80's have done and modified them to suit our tastes. If people need to ask 'Is the ****** an oldskoolford?' then they don't understand what it's all about. Look at the lines of an Anglia or an escort. Pure magic
marky4 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 as fantastic a car the rs200 is to me it's not oldskool
mk1super Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 as fantastic a car the rs200 is to me it's not oldskool I agree with him!
BIGKEV Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Not - totally different car than and Old skool Motor - we have to focus here Yes its old - yes it is the quickest thing I have seen but no its not old skool - Years ago when you were tinkering around with your car did your mate from the pub ever come in and say he's just given it beans round the estate and smoked the tyres up at every oppurtunity after fixing that dodgy water pump .......... on his RS200? I think not - twas a £60 escort with more rot than a rottten rot thing!! ( I'm starting to ramble arent i ?) Old skool Ford - all you need is a 13mm spanner and a rag !
bobmk1 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Look at the lines of an Anglia or an escort. Pure magic spot on fella i do love a group b slag but deffo not an oldskool
Danmex Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I've got to say no, I'd give my right bollock to own one, but its not oldskool
RF Ben2 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 I think that pretty much concludes that poll then! Nighty Night! Ben PS - neither myself or morley ever thought an rs200 was old skool (as you can probably tell from our replies!)... and will never feature one in retro ford. Or Fwd Escorts!)
Wessie Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 glad to hear it ben , but we dont mind the odd piccy of a rs200 like the brighton speed trials this month
Tigran Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 It was designed over 25 years ago, it has an old skool engine and old skool materials used - no titanium/carbon fibre/kevlar etc etc etc and it looks 80's tastic. It is totally old skool, it has the old skool vibe and feel about it. A brand new tvr straight out the factory is old skool to me, as is a Z4M and a Honda S2k. IMO the character of the car has as much to do with it being OS as the date it was made/details of manufacture.
105Nick Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 I can only really define it as A LEGEND. I think really it was just an evolution in the theory that goes behind the Ford GT70 that Ford were developing in the early seventies, as they didn't think the escort had what it took. How wrong they were. Though I wouldnt call that project old skool either as it ammounted to nothing with the course of history or the general public. Okay the 200 was turbocharged and four wheel drive, but it used a BDG as the base and was all mechanical. But Old Skool? Nah, I'd call it a legendary peice of motorsport history, not Old Skool or a classic, its not quite got that soul.
tim Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Looks like sierra rear lights too me! Is a sierra oldskool? Let me open the flood gates for mentions of pinto's and type 9 boxes! and doors and filler cap its a ford parts bin car
Morley Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 Is a Sierra old skool... Ha ha... only joking! For me old skool is about having a car that people will come up to you in a petrol station, car park or wherever and comment that they used to have one, their dad used to have one or their grandad used to have one. As mental as the RS200 is, i personally don't see it as Old Skool. The reason that prompted me writing this is that i was watching a DVD about the group B cars and then possibly the best Escort DVD ever: the Vatanen Touch and it got me thinking. Ok, so it was the beer that got me thinking.

Your powers of observance are strong Mr Phillips. Luke Wood (former DepEd of TRC) works at Brands hatch, so we popped along to see him, and one of our snappers, as it's only round the corner from the office.
Mr.Sumo Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 The car is without doubt a mean tool, but I would not put it under the OSF banner as it's just worlds apart in my eyes Ditto Colin.....fast and furious as fook , completely mental , made up from the Sierra parts bin , but Old Skool ..... nah .
Gibson Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 dunno about old skool but i sure would have one so quickly would make the old owners head spin
