Stu_B Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 I have loved this car since I first saw it & my mate Paul let me drive it He then bought a lovely Consul Classic & the opportunity to own this beast presented itself... I pretty much tore his hand off Drove up to Bristol to collect it yesterday.. went up in a convoy With Paul in his Classic & Richierich in his 1600e The Clutch is shot but it is drivable (hard work but worth it...) it goes soo well & the roar of those 40's is just about the best sound I have ever heard I could only use 2nd, 3rd & 4th but I still managed to leave lot's of rubber everywhere I went & we got lot's of looks driving through Bristol in convoy. The battery was dead & needed jump starting all the time... not really good trying to do a hill start in 2nd in heavy traffic up the steepest hill in Bristol... Cheers for taking us up there Paul After all the papers were signed Richie & I headed back home... only to discover the inaccuracies of the fuel guage on the M5. Cheers for sorting me out Rich - you're a lifesaver Anyway heres the Spec & some more pics: Engine 1500 Pre-crossflow, all steel bottom end, Lotus crank and rods, Cosworth steel main caps, lightened, polished and balanced. +40 Power Max pistons, full race head (port, polish, big valves etc.) steel rocker shaft and posts, duplex timing gear, Tony Law manifold, Stainless system, twin DCOE 40’s. Richierich Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 No worries stu, we got there in the end, had to make it up to the missus for being so late, Indian meal and an early nite did the trick tho! tbh I don't really want to see that anglia for a while! I've never jump started a car so many times in one day! You got some work to do now tho! 3 broken OSF's, a heap of rover and a neighbour who gets arsey about people parking outside her house! Was a good day tho and sort of makes up for missing route 38
