.... all packed up and ready to go to test and tune day on Saturday .... trundling up the M3 (just approaching M25) following Ian at a rate of knots .... exhaust sounded a bit loud so I reached for the glovebox and some earplugs ... when suddenly .... I sounded like a big block V8 with a ching, ching, ching noise .... fookin exhaust had fallen off and was bouncing along underneath the car :shock::shock::shock:

Checked the mirrors and coasted onto the hard shoulder ... Ian pulls up ahead and reverses back to meet me .... turns out the exhaust has snapped where it meets the header :( (it was on the way out anyway) So he had to lay on the hard shoulder and hacksaw the rest of it off as he couldn't get it over the axle

Shoved it in the boot .... stuck some tissue in my ears (no earplugs left in the car) and drove it round the M25 and up the A217 towards central London and left it with Colin Ashton to fix (thanks Col ):thumbsup: Had to keep it under 4k revs because it was so loud and droning that my eyeballs felt like they were popping out my head :lol::lol:

Am now having a nice shiny new stainless system  £££

We then set off for Shakey in Ian's car :mrgreen::thumbsup:

when i had my mk2 rs2k the exhaust parted company with the manifold on the way back from Bournemouth. I can tell you Bournemouth to Godalming is a long way with be`elzebub blowing his horn under your floor pan!!!!!!!

We left reasonably early sunday morning from Norfolk ,was a bit damp but no snow. However the further west we went there was more and more snow until i was using the front panel as a snow plough  .Made it to shakey mid morning to lots of snow on the ground but the sun was out and it stayed fine the rest of the day.Had a few runs up the strip ,met a few new faces which was nice and returned home with no disasters(which must be a first).Exellent day.Its not often that the wife, offspring and myself go anywhere together and even more unusual for all of us to enjoy ourselves.

Shame about your exhaust Jo but at least as mentioned you get the chance to fit a nice new one

lol, sounds like a painfull drive! a similar thing happened to me last year, i was driving back from a show when my center silencer split open (too much pressure due to the charger i think..) and by the time i got home my ears were ringing, couldnt hear properly for whole day after
