the $50 paint job was an interesting link.

 

where do people buy there paints from?- do you just go to a body shop and ask if they can get you some in? (im talking a particular colour rather than just a red or blue, eg, nimbus grey or something).

 

what are the rules regarding paints now?- are they all water based now- is that any good?

It's not that water based paint is no good, it's getting it to dry that's the problem. You can get away with drying a panel with heaters in a garage, but a whole car is harder.
