Daggle Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Got this idea of another thread, so whats your worst accident you have been in, mine was in my first car (Fiesta Supersport) About 2 weeks previous to the accident, I had to repair the O/S/F suspension on my Fiesta (due to another ding), but probably didn't do it proparly as, as I pulled up to a junction, i thought it would be a good idea to pull the handbrake up to stop , this unfortunaltly caused me to go across the road and into the back of a parked Orion, the orion got pushed into a mini. Apparantly my car went 3 foot up in the air, and rotated 180 degrees. That left me dazed and shocked, with one written off car..... The fiesta got re-shelled and is still driving around somewhere, loved that car
Danmex Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 My worst one was about two years ago. I was driving to work on the A1, it was about 6.30 in the morning with no traffic so I was doing between 90-100 mph when some sleeping foreign lorry driver veered into my lane and side swiped me, I got nocked into the central reservation bounced of and started to skid back across the road, I had almost got the car back in a straight line when both my nearside tires blew out, this caused the car to spin out across all three lanes through a fence and into a tree . Car was a total write off and the fooking lorry driver didn't even stop The police found my bumper all the way up in scotch corner service staition (about 40 miles away) where the twat who hit me must have pulled it out of his side rails and thrown it in a hedge. I was seriously lucky to walk away from that one. My only injury was a burn under my right eye where the airbag crushed my cig into my face
Stu_B Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Took a right hand bend in anger, back end went a bit too much clipped a kerb, before I knew it I was going straight across the road towards a wall on the other side!! Ripped the rim clean off my 4-spoke where it hit the kerb in front of the wall, bent the strut back into the footwell trapping the pedals leaving it screaming in 2nd with no brakes! pushed itself along the wall for about 15ft! Oops!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I've only ever had one crash which was in a mini when the brakes failed and I hit a fiesta. But I've been passenger in two bad ones: First one, my sisters ex had borrowed his bosses Rover 3500 SD1. This was about 1987. Me and my mate were at a bus stop and he asked if we needed a lift, so said yes. We set off and after a mile we were on a long straight, wide downhill road, with traffic islands every few hundred yards. Suddenly he swerved to the wrong side of the road, and around the island. We thought he was messing around, but the look on his face said he wasn't. We swerved down the road, just missing these islands, and then the back end clipped a telegraph pole bringing a load of lines down. A couple more swerves later he was on the pavement and onto the car park area in front of some shops. He got the handbrake on, did a 180 and stopped. He said he thought he'd had a blow out, but also the brakes didn't work. One of the funny things was, after I'd set off walking home, and a crowd started gathering, a bloke came running up and grabbed Keith and was ready to beat him up. This blokes wife had been walking up the street, seen the car swerving down the road, and in her panic jumped down a hole the gas board had been digging (!) and it was full of muddy water! She was caked. The other crash was in a Sierra company car. Guy had just passed his test and borrowed it one lunchtime to go into Halifax. The road was a bit greasy. We went round this corner (too fast) and he lost it. We swerved to the wrong side of the road narrowly missing an oncoming Micra, but he got it back onto our side, and then off it. No pavement, just a grass bank and drystone wall that had been knocked down in a previous crash. We went over the wall (or rather along it) and rolled. We ended up on our side with guy still gripping the steering wheel above me. I was calm but guy was panicking. We climbed out, and the guy in the micra had turned round. He said we weren't going fast. When it was on its side we noticed a bald back tyre. We pushed it back onto it's wheels, with the intention of driving back to work, but the tank had split so a full tank of petrol spilled out over the road. The police arrived, shortly followed by an ambulance. Because of the petrol, the police called the fire station, so we had a full set.
DeuceCoupe Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 The only accident I had was I knocked someone off there bike. He was ok cause as I was just pulling out. But I was in so hated driving after that. Got got back into driving as had to drive to heathrow everyday as I worked there.

RFChris Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V. Barrel rolled of Snake Pass a total of 8 times. The roof was pitched by the time i came to a stop. Why did i get flung off the road? Rain? Nope... Snow? Nope... Buttered tyres? Nope... MKIII Capri 2.8i Special hitting the back of me due to him locking up and sliding at full speed...yep. And yet, oddly, i still love old Fords!
mk2 stu Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Erm racing down boxhill about six years ago, i was in my nova sr (oh dear!!) And managed to launch it up onto a fookin high kerb and rip the suspension out! Best thing that could have happend to it really, the good news is i did win the race, although i do not condone street racing of any kind now
atomic punk Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Pulled out in front of a motorcyclist luckily noone hurt but I've been o lot more careful since then
BIGKEV Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 rolled a metro with 4 people in it - trying to impress the girls lol - 3 rolls then landed on its roof and all i remeber was shouting to my passenger to turn off scooter that was on the radio !! we were all ok except for shock but you live and learn eh?
RFChris Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I say thanks for ridding the wold of a Metro... A mate killed one, i thanked him too... Chris
runty176 Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 the most success i have had with banger racing has been with metros its fun , you rip the rear subframe off and they still carry on
mk1mexico Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 worst i have driven in was when i got t-boned by a 8 week old chrysler voyager. That was in my 1300 sport mk2. split the inner wing/bulkhead from windscreen down to the sill Worst by far was in a landy discovery 17 year old new driver thought it would handle like a car. hit a tree at 60mph and stopped dead. there was 5 of us in it, driver was ok i had multiple facial injuries cause i hit the dash (they have a hand rail on the dash that is metal reinforced and my face bent it double. it took 7 days for my nose to stop bleeding my girlfriend at the time had abdominal injuries, her friend shot past me from the middle back seat and into the windscreen in front of me(no seatbelt) and my other friend in the back was knocked out, broke his sturnum (breast bone) and spent 2 weeks in hospital without going to the toilet once I still have 2 scars on my lips, bad back and a scar inside my nostril. All in all not a very nice experience the landys gearbox and engine were on the floor completely seperate from the car
Ratters Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I wasn't impressed at the time Didn't have no-one else to blame either
Gibson Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 locked my brakes on a country lane near my house when a BM came screaming towards me the otherway on a blind corner and tore the wing off my capri. and WROTE OFF A METRO! i was walking out of the workshop at college going to lunch in a bad mood and one of the muppets in my class had left the college's vectra 2l auto at the bottom of one of the ramps. the lecturer made me take it out before i went to lunch (i was missing out on valuable pub time now) so i chucked it in reverse. floored it... and didnt notice one of the colleges many metros sitting across the door...Whoops. tore the bumper and one wing off it and barely even scratched the vectra...
