A mate whose also in the trade has told me he heard a rumour that the goverment are trying to pass a new road tax cost for older vehicles to be based on engine size as no emissions data was recorded ?

Anyone else heard this ,rumours flying that v8 and v6 engines will be around £800 a year to tax and 2.0 around £500 !

Thats any car pre 2001 !!

Anyone know if its true ?

There's an artical in practical classics saying the conservatives are pushing to bring us in line with Ireland and other European country by bringing back a rollong exemption at 30 years, that will also have the engine sized tax as well just like S Ireland has now, good news for most of us :?

Tax exemption at the mo is 78 by the time the cons get in it will be 1980 then you have to wait for them to actually do it so probably 1981/2 by that time will be exempt, just in time for both my X regs cortias to go back on the road

It is, registered or built before 1st jan 73 is currently tax exempt. I assume bortaf means if the conservatives were to introduce a 30 year rolling tax exemption from today then vehicles pre 1978 would qualify
