Nettles Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 I’m in the process of modifying the front of my chassis and when it’s complete with the engine back in and everything else bolted back on it should have a ride height at the front of about 4 inches. So how low is your OSF? What ride heights are everyone else running?
pelvins Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 tub it out and have it as low as in your sig picture
60ftman Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Mine is about 3" off the ground at it's lowest point. Surprisingly it very seldom grounds out (the headers always hit first if it does). I'd reckon that a 4" ride-height would be about perfect
jamesg Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 not sure how high off the ground it is but its been lowered an inch and a half.
Stu_B Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Not sure on the groud clearance but it's an Anglia on -3" Capri struts & -2" decambered leafs with -2" blocks!! Very low, even up on ramps its a struggle to get under
brad Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 how low do you want it to be ? hydro's or airbags let you change to suit your mood
hotrodholty Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 4 inch's is fine mate so long as nothing is past the scrub line, imagine your car sitting on the street with no tyres on it, if any component is touching the floor, (lower than the wheel rim) its to low. iv seen plenty of mega low pops over the years at the rod shows so i dont think you'll have a problem, i had one running triumph running gear a couple of years back and the bottom of the grill shell (the lowest part of the car) was about 3" from the tarmac
Slammed Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 quote from a sticker on a back of a 'rod "as low as your'e nans tits"
Copey Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 mines not low enough!! need to raise the exhaust into the body a little and then lower it a bit
vibrating_Cake Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 mines -1" all around but still has clearance of about 2" above the height of a kurb, at least!
RWDmad Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 2.5"all round with the shock settings at their hardest hit the exhaust off everything
Noodles Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Now my lowest point which is the bottom of the exhuast manifold is 60mm
V8ian Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 4 inch's is fine mate so long as nothing is past the scrub line, imagine your car sitting on the street with no tyres on it, if any component is touching the floor, (lower than the wheel rim) its to low. iv seen plenty of mega low pops over the years at the rod shows so i dont think you'll have a problem, i had one running triumph running gear a couple of years back and the bottom of the grill shell (the lowest part of the car) was about 3" from the tarmac The Scrub line is as low as you can safely go, which is normally the sidewall height of the tires you are using + 2" so if you have a puncture and lose the tire the bottom of the lowest part of the car will not drag on the floor, so if your tire wall on the rear is 2.5" +2" for clearance, this will give 4.5", measure from the lowert point under the car, you can still run a rake as your front tires are smaller you just need to be thinking about the what will touch if you have a blowout, you also have to take into account if you do have a puncture, how much room do you need to get a small jack under he car.
FredTransit Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Not low at all, I don't do low, short or chopped. I like em high, long and tall!

caprinerd Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 mines not low enough!! need to raise the exhaust into the body a little and then lower it a bit ditto, mexy`s mex is low real low
