ban1216 Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 First time i have been stopped in about 9 years Two young scrotes got out of there corsa that i had just executed a perfectly legal overtake on and started trying to pull my car to pieces for illegal this and illegal that They then asked what it was and wether it was tax exempt DESPITE HIM EXAMINING THE TAX DISC IN THE WINDOW They asked me how fast i was going to which my reply of i really dont know didnt go down well I didnt go into the speedo calibration issues that we all have He has given me a vehicle inspection notice because he thinks my ashley 2 box system is illegal and a producer cos the only thing i didnt have with me document wise was my licence I then pointed out that he had a rear light not working and that his car was dangerously loaded due to the fact that he had all his equipment piled high in the boot and it filled his rear windscrren and that if he were to be in an accident some of his equipment may cause him some svere injuries to which the little shit implied i should mind my own business and drove off ASSHOLES

Proberly find they have been sent on a shit 1 houre course about about modified cars now think there the Ministery Of Transport . wat have you to do go to a specialist place or any mot station with the inspection note

ban1216 Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 Going to take it to an mot station today to get it checked out to be honest i think it was more an inconvenience to me than anything else cos i havent been done or anything It was more the atitude of the cops that got my back up as if i was the worst person in the world All they needed to do was do a check on the plate and my driver details instead of making me out to be a criminal for overtaking there crappy corsa in a legal manner Anyway at least it means i get to go to work in the escort today

antz Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 i went to a safety awareness day the other day and was speaking to a traffic cop. he was a dead ncie guy and showed us how things work in the car and was offering to look at peoples cars if they had any questions about what was legal or illegal. i asked him about my exhaust (2inch ashley) and he said its loud and i should be careful in town but out on the open road it doesnt matter. he was a dead nice guy. not all traffic cops are turds....dont call them that. some are idiots but they have a job to do and when you deal with idiots all day who back chat and kick off during a routine stop then i aimagine they do get arsey
lotusless Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 i agree with burns + tom, dont tar them all with the same brush. was this a marked police car? if it was why overtake them without a proper speedo? + deffo dont give them lip when they pull you as they can be real difficult if they want. i've found most police like the old cars + know we all spend time + money on them, not like the corsa-saxo boys who just rag them around all night like twats. we've all had run-ins with the police but i would not do their job for any money + the crap they have to put up with from 12 year olds on asbo's!!

Defect ticket to check one thing or deferred PG9 so you have to get a new MOT? if it's a fix it ticket, just go with the new exhaust and get it stamped. If it's a new MOT, DO NOT mention it to the tester, they will get the wind up and take it apart! Let them do their job and do whatever. I bet you the plods at the local cop shop won't know what to do with the paperwork anyway......

Seriously though i work for Surrey Police and like in ANY place of work there are good peope and bad people. The bad police officers seem to think they can get away with more because of the uniform. I'm happy to say that of all the officers i have met they all seem very decent people.
ban1216 Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 Some intersting points of view but can i just say that i am not a cop hater I do however believe that they have there priorities wrong and that they target the easy people to catch (honest ones) I have taken my car to the mot station and had my exhaust listened to at which the testers looked at each other and said that they are not unduly worried by the sound as it was quieter than a lot of cars on the road they also said that there is nothing in the manual to state that the exhaust should have any kind of bs stamps on it My exhaust is an ashley 2 inch twin box system that i fitted after the classic ford show at the pod due to the righthand system i had on it being to loud for motorway use My main gripe is that the officers in question treated me like i was guilty until proven innocent and despite doing eveything they asked and being polite and civil to them (no back chat from me)they still wanted me to produce my documents at the station after they had had all my details confirmed over the radio as being who i was and the registerd keeper and insured and taxed and moted WHY surely that is a waste of police time and mine

I was pulled over a few years ago on New Years Morning (about 6:00am). One thing they kept saying was to keep my hands out of my pockets. It was a freezing cold morning, and I didn't understand why they were so blunt. But as they explained, I could have been going for a knife or a gun, so their paranoia (for want of a better word) was understandable. Once they were happy with the details that I had given them, the situation was a lot more relaxed and we had a chat like normal human beings. Out of all the times I have been stopped, there was one copper who thought the sun shone out of his arse... he was a bell-end. But that in one policeman in probably 20. The majority are nice people
