mk1escortmad Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 dont use mine everyday its more a weekend car plus i dont feel comfortable driving it in the wet until ive full coated underneath half way there but takes a while to do
bomber1 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 the mk escort was a dailey apart from when it needed fixing. the same with the zodiac the mk1 will end up a weekend toy but that mean double the osf pleasure
Duke3s Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 i use mine most days - but i couldnt afford it if i lived too far from work (bout 4 miles at mo). i only get 12 to the gallon its an ace 12 miles though!
Airbag Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I use my 2.8i all the time in the summer and my 2.0S all the time in the winter.
Copey Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 i can just see lee's reply to this topic "which OSF? i have lots"
glenbo Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I USE MINE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AT THE WEEKENDS NOT DURING THE WEEK BECAUSE I DRIVE MY TRANSIT,HAVE ALOT OF TOOLS FOR WORK
mk2_escort_chick Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Up until I went into hospital I used my mk1 fezzy (Jelly) everyday. The 100e (Orville) will be my daily drive, once I get it mot'd
countrybumpkin Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 my mk1 escort get used most days since i smashed my mk4 escort van into somthing very hard i've not really had any problems with usings a lot but then most of the parts on it are new
sab6024 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I used to use my Capri everyday for work, until it started getting ropey. I have recently bought a Mk1 Fez and now I use that everyday. I do about 30,000 miles a year in my cars though
MK5 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 My Cortina is my daily and up until 2 months ago was used every day for work. Now I walk to work (only takes 5 minutes) I do miss my car and have hardly driven her for 2 weeks My car is a 2.8 and doesn't know the meaning of fuel economy, but I don't care. I don't drink or smoke so I guess the Government has to get money from me somehow!!
lee_capri Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 yeh worse luck, have to start fixing it as soon as i get home as anouther bit as broke or fell off
martymk1 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 i do 45 miles a day' whatever the weather
Fix Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I drive my Fezz' every day too... 20km a day... No problem... +++
escort21 Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Always used mine osf's everyday...good fun in the snow
Tracey Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 No Both cars are insured on limited mileage, so we only use them at weekends really and probably once a week to get to work
5hane Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 my dad uses his most days he can (when he aint got o take the pickup out ) and of course it gets abused
Retro-gone. Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 used to use mine everyday up till this year, it was starting to look shabby so had it resprayed, now it only comes out in sunshine, didnt have another car back then but now we have a 2nd car, its funny cos our lasses brand new fiesta is worth more then the capri yet we use it regardless of the weather, also as someone else mentioned its much more enjoyable using yer classic as a toy rather than just 'transport'.
Johnson Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 i drive mine to work every day. and i wouldnt have it any other way
CrazyCharlie Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 my anglia estavan is my daily runner i do about 30 miles to work and back, and every where else as well, my mum and dad own a house in germany 15 mins from the RING so i will be using the van to travel there as well, me fezza has taken a seat in the garage cus i need a van and ive spent so much money on it, id trash it cus i work on a landfill site which gets sh*t high.
bmxdave Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 Its good to see people usibng them every day. As long as its maintained theres no reason not to. Im shit at mornings, so my drive to work in the morning is how i wake up. There was a good stretch (A570 or something) going into st helens and it was a long piece of road then a roundabout then a long stretch, roundabout, long steretch etc, you get the picture. In the dry it was fun to hoof it down there at 7 in the morning, in the wet it was fun to skid the roundabouts. I couldnt imagine going to work in a boring car, otherwise id never wake up.
Seldon Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I used to drive mine to work when I could but I have managed to wangle a van now. The main reason mine still looks so shabby is coz I don't want to take it off the road to get it painted.
shaun1.6ghia Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Used everyday to go to work, then out and about on the night all weathers. You'll never stop the rust coming through in the end, so why worry about? i agree but i hate the rust already, its trying to show so hard and only had on the road a year... every day rain shine snow fog it has to be done mine gets that too... i travel 70miles round to see my gf.. 100 to band praktice an bits an bobs everyday...
one-day Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 i use mine every day 34 miles to and from work cost's a packet in fuel especially with 45's on it but hey if i could afford a daily drive jap car i would leave the escort in the garage.
borneo Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 If it breaks, I fix it. If it starts to rust, I'll fix it. Haven't waited 10 years to get the car of my dreams and not drive it!
