Savvi Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 When we were racing at Silverstone the weekend we got chatting to a guy who told us of a car in a barn locally, the lad has owned it for 25 years been sat for the last 20 years and needs to sell it. So we arranged to go and have a look this morning and found this : Pics are not great as it there was no lights in the barn. We snapped his arm off and are going back tomorrow with the trailer
Savvi Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Im not sure i can say It wasn't silly cheap, the guy knew what a genuine unmolested Mexico was worth but i think it could be Mot'd by the end of the week if he wanted it to be. It's Top Gear Steve who has bought it, he owns the Tvr V8 engined Mk1 in one of my other post's. He was going to prepare it for track racing but i think i've talked him out it, if he can find a standard shell to build another race car for a customer.

Savvi Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 Perhaps we should do a guess the price thread ? TBH it's not me that bought it and although it wouldn't bother me, i'm not sure if he would like me telling everyone ? I'll ask the question ........................... in the meantime if anyone wants to have a guess ? When Steve spoke to me this morning, he had spoke to the previous owner who says that the low mileage is genuine ? ,
countrybumpkin Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 on the crazzy world f ebay it wuld have probably been about 5-6 grand but i would think your mate probably payed about £1000 for it
jaymk1cossieestate Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 ya lucky b*****d! just what i was going to say?
bigglesmk2 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 i would think your mate probably payed about £1000 for it Im guessing even less then that ?
Savvi Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 Was much more than a £1000, as i said it wasn't what i'd call cheap, it's the fact that's it's a genuine car and has very little, work done in the past. Lets face it how many Mexico's has had from what we can see no welding underneath it looks like it's had new wings and the front part of the wing rails and 2 patches on the bonnet slam panel. The top plates are original and have the chassis number stamped into it.
