trevb Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 There is a website on how to get rid of stuff, so here is what they say: Boiling Water. Pouring boiling water on the maggots seems to be the single most effective way of killing them. Some people suggest a mixture of pine sol, bleach, and boiling water. Once you have boiled them to death, you can sweep them up and throw them away in a sealed trash bag. thanks to :http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/pest-control/how-to-get-rid-of-maggots/ Hope this helps. Do I dare ask why your nick name is maggot?

X-pack-Glyn Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 You could always scoop them into a tupperware tub then go fishing Sell em mate... have you seen the price of a pint of maggots recently! they will sell mate and youd get 8 spark plugs with the profits.
X-pack-Glyn Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 on the subject of maggots i used to fish the canal in winter as a lad, we used to put loads of maggots (of the fly larve type for all you wise crackers) in our mouth to warm em up before chuckin em in, they look allmost dead when they are cold and dont do so well.

Are you using them for carp , if theyre working stick with em, but normally do better in the winter months... you wana try 20mm drilled halibut pellets this time of year, high oil content and leakage, excellent summer bait.
5hane Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 i only really use maggots, or a litte bit of lunchen meat ive only went to acermersial lake once, usally we go places where ur 'not allowed' , i find the fish fight more and generally look nicer (because no fatty pellets, just eating what there suppost too). but there are alot smaller, my grandad has caught quite a few large roach and he got a catfish last week

I only used them as pre bait as I had a load left over from a tiddler bashing session with my son. Instead of throwing them in I took them home to freeze them, (to stop them burying themselves in the silt) and threw them in the canal instead before a carp fishing trip. As you have said maggots are very expensive so have been baiting up with pidgeon feed that once prepared works out at approx 24p per kilo !!! and also have a 25kg sack of 22mm halibut pellets. I usually fish with 20mm boilies on the hook.
