RUSTYPUP Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I have found one of these for sale. I think its lovely. It looks like a proper exotic Italian sports car, but its based on a Taunus. I believe there are a few kicking around Europe still. I'm trying to find out the value of them to decide if I should get it or not. It needs loads of work and is quite expensive, but if it's worth loads done then I could justify it. I think Can anybody help??

Should have sounded pants. Only have a 90 bhp v6 in I think I've never seen one before. Deffo an OSI?? Not an ISO? Bit of a dyslexics ngihtarme
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Here's that bit of info I was chatting to you about last night mate. I will do some more digging today Officine Stampaggi Industriali (OSI)was set up in 1960 as a subsidiary of Ghia, with seat in Turin (Italy), to build cars for different car manufactures. The company was created in 1960 by Luigi Segre (former president of Ghia) and Arrigo Olivetti. The aim of the new company was to produce models designed by Ghia as well as production tools for the industry. Sedans and sports cars with own OSI Design were built for Alfa Romeo, Fiats, Ford and Innocenti in usually small numbers. The probably most well-known vehicle was the Ford OSI 20 M TS Coupé.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 The beautiful, rare and forgotten Ford! The OSI 20M TS build 1967-1968 by Officine Stampaggi Industriali, Turin, Italy build on the Ford Taunus P6-P7. Only 2200 pieces produced. Car designed by a former Ferrari Enginieer Sergio Sartorelli.
CrazyCharlie Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 very different ive never seen or heard of one before does look italian
Admin Vista Posted September 5, 2008 Admin Report Posted September 5, 2008 Very pretty Was it them who dropped a BDA into one of their creations? I saw smething like that come up on ebay UK a couple of years ago, a green one as I recall.
V8ian Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Russ, Not much use but I found one in a breakers yard in Oswaldtwistle many years ago, Have an ask on BSC, they are a lot more worldly on there , I asked similar questions about the same car a few years ago, and got a lot of info,
capriaddict Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Mmmm! looks very nice got to be worth getting just because its so differant and probably rare
caprinerd Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 in 2 minds about it, i really cant make my mind up on it
oldbus Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 The Osi´s are pretty rare over here too mate. Be carefull before you spend your hard earned money. Whilst you can get everything for the running gear for beer money the rest is a nightmare. Trim & bodywork bits you won´t get anywhere. They´re all "Osi only" and are very expensive if something does come up. Prices start for an MOT´d good un at about 10 grand. What nick is it in and how much do the want for it? Is it LHD?
RUSTYPUP Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Hi. It is you that I was trying to find! I remember hearing you talk about Taunus' before and thought you could be in the know. I spoke to you briefly about your can at CF show last year. I went to look at a Lotus Cortina in a yard and decided I didn't want it, but a few cars along was this OSI. I only had a brief look at it as it only hit me on the way home that I really want it! It looked like it wazs pretty much all there. Fairly rotten, but I'm used to that!!! I'm told that it was driving around his yard about a year ago, but I'm thinking that an engine swap would be in order as everything I've read says how slow they are. It is LHD. Thanks for your info and any more - particularly any that you have seen for sale would be most appreciated. This one is up for 2750, but does need complete resto
RUSTYPUP Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Thanks for the other info too guys. And Ian, I have put a thread up on buysell and they have been helpful too
Nettles Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 That does look the complete nuts fella. Deffo got to be worth getting hold of just because it's so bloody rare. GO FOR IT!
oldbus Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Well, for less than three grand you can´t go wrong mate, over here they´d probably cost twice that!! The running gear is a doddle, if your happy welding then go for it mate. It´ll start getting difficult once you start putting it back together, seals, trim, chrome etc...make sure you get all the bits if you do buy it.... and don´t forget some pics when you do
johnny_h Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 It's nice but have you got enough mig wire?
